The short version

Seedr has a media player built into the browser. It plays video and audio stored in your account without needing VLC, an app install, or a file download. Why a browser media player

A lot of cloud storage products force you to download a file before you can watch it. That is slow on big files and pointless if you only want to skim. Seedr's player streams directly from your cloud storage in any modern browser, so you press play on a 20 GB workshop recording the same way you press play on a two-minute clip.

This also means the player works on anything with a browser: Mac, Windows, Linux, iPad, Android. No per-platform app to install.

Supported formats

The player handles the formats most people actually have:

• Video: MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, WebM, and similar common containers.
• Audio: MP3, FLAC, M4A, WAV, OGG.
• Images: JPEG, PNG, GIF, HEIC/HEIF (converted server-side so they appear as regular images in the viewer).
• Documents: PDF (full viewer with annotations), plain text, and a small set of others.

Exotic or broken files may not play cleanly in the browser. In that case, save the file locally and use a desktop player. That is the honest limit — the browser is not VLC.

Video quality

Quality is selected from the three-dot menu in the bottom-right of the player. Available options depend on the source file and your plan:

• Free and Basic: up to HD.
• Pro: up to HD / Full HD.
• Master: up to 4K.

Pick lower quality to save bandwidth on mobile data or slow networks. Pick higher quality on a fibre line or a big screen. Seedr does not silently downgrade — your choice is respected.

Playback speed

Same three-dot menu. Available speeds: 0.5×, 1×, 1.5×, 2×, 2.5×, 3×. Pitch is preserved, so speech stays intelligible. Common uses:

• 0.5× for language learning.
• 1.5× for tutorials and lectures.
• 2×–3× for skim-rewatches.

Full-screen and picture-in-picture

Two window modes:

• Full-screen makes the player take the whole display. Click the expand icon bottom-right, or press F. Escape exits.
• Picture-in-picture (PiP) detaches the video into a small floating window on top of other apps. Click the PiP icon, or use your browser's right-click menu on the video.

PiP is a browser feature, so the exact look varies between Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.

Subtitles

The subtitles icon is in the top-right of the player.

• Embedded tracks. If the file has built-in subtitle tracks (common in MKV), pick one from the track dropdown.
• OpenSubtitles search. Built in. Type the video name, pick your language, load.
• Appearance. Adjust size, colour, background, and position.
• Offset. Nudge subtitles a second earlier or later if they drift.

Casting

The player supports Chromecast and AirPlay in V2. Click the cast icon in the viewer and pick your device. The stream goes from Seedr to your TV, not through your phone, so quality does not suffer on weak Wi-Fi.

What the player does not do

Honest limits, because overclaiming is worse than acknowledging:

• No in-browser video editing. It is a player, not an editor. No trimming, no re-encoding on-the-fly.
• No audio-track mixing. Pick one audio track from the file.
• No menus to click through for long single-file videos.

For those, save the file and use a desktop tool.

Coming or in preview

• Offline pinning via the PWA (preview).
• Format converter integration — today, you right-click a file and convert via the separate converter; tighter player integration is on the list.
• Trim and export-frame tools — planned, not built.

We label these honestly so you do not plan around something that is not here yet.

How to open the player

Click any video or audio file in your Seedr dashboard. It opens in the viewer. That is the whole step. No "right app?" dialog.
