To convert FLAC to MP3 online, add the audio to Seedr, open Tools and choose Convert, then select MP3. Keep the FLAC original: MP3 makes a smaller listening copy by discarding audio data. Cloud audio conversion needs a paid plan.

Keep the lossless original

FLAC stores audio losslessly. MP3 trades audio information for a smaller listening copy. Keep the original FLAC when preserving the recording matters; converting the MP3 back to FLAC will not restore discarded detail.

Convert a listening copy

  1. Add the audio to your Seedr cloud and wait for the import to finish.

  2. Open the file details, then Tools and Convert.

  3. Choose MP3 when offered for the source file and your account.

  4. Use the output options available in the current dialog, then start the task.

  5. Open the converted file and check duration, sound and playback on the intended device.

Choose for the destination

A car stereo, phone and browser can support different audio formats. Check the receiving player before converting a collection. A higher target bitrate cannot repair a low-quality source. Start with one representative track and compare the result at a normal listening level.

Conversion and playback differ

You may only need to play the source rather than create another file. Cloud conversion uses the paid Tools feature; supported output choices and quality can depend on your account. Keep enough storage for the original and result and do not assume every listed audio format is available in every direction.

Keep a master copy

  • Keep the original FLAC or WAV when making a smaller listening copy.

  • Choose the output your player supports, then compare a short sample before converting an album.

  • Check track names, duration, volume and channel layout. Browser playback is not proof of bit-perfect output.

Frequently asked questions

Will a higher MP3 bitrate repair a low-quality recording?
