How to play video files in your browser

To play a video in your browser, use a supported file and a player that can deliver compatible audio and video. Seedr offers cloud playback, but no service can guarantee every possible damaged, encrypted or unusual file on every device.
Check container and codecs
The filename extension describes only part of a media file. MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV and WebM are containers or format families; the picture and sound inside also need compatible decoders. Encryption or a damaged transfer can prevent playback even when the extension is familiar.
Try the cloud player
Import a supported video or add its source link.
Wait for the transfer to complete.
Open the player and check picture, audio, seeking and subtitles.
Try the receiving device separately before relying on casting or external playback.
If it still will not play
Check that the file is complete and that your browser is current. If a compatible copy is needed, preserve the source while converting. Changing the extension is not a conversion. No player can guarantee every damaged, encrypted or unusual file.
Plan-based quality
Cloud playback and a saved conversion are separate workflows. Quality depends on the plan, source and device; the current plan table lists 4K for Master. A supported container is not a guarantee of HDR or bit-perfect audio.
Choose a compatible output
Check the receiving device manual for container, video codec and audio support.
MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio is a common starting point. Test the exact device before converting a large library.
Preserve the source and test picture, sound, subtitles and seeking in the output. Allow storage for both copies.
Frequently asked questions
Is MP4 the same thing as H.264?
No. MP4 is a container; H.264 is a video codec. The device must support the combination, including its audio.
Will conversion improve the original picture?
No. Re-encoding cannot restore missing detail and can reduce quality. Keep the original and choose settings for the destination.
