When someone you refer signs up and becomes a paying customer, you earn a commission on what they pay. Ready to start? [Apply to the partner program](). #### How a referral is credited - Your link sets a cookie that lasts 45 days. - If that person signs up for Seedr in that time, the sign-up is credited to you. - If they clicked more than one partner link, the most recent partner link earns the credit; a partner promo code redeemed at checkout takes priority over links. - You cannot earn commission on your own purchases. #### Commission Commission is a percentage of the net sale amount (the price paid, excluding tax). It applies to the customer's first payment and to every renewal or upgrade during the first 6 months after that first payment. Your rate grows with the net revenue you have referred, counted over your whole time in the program and approved after the lock period: - 15% to start - 20% from $500 in referred net revenue - 25% from $2,500 - 30% from $5,000 Tiers are never lowered once you reach them. #### Lock period, refunds and chargebacks Each commission is held for a 30-day lock period before it becomes payable. If the customer is refunded or disputes the payment, the matching commission is reversed. #### Payouts - Minimum payout: $50. - Payout methods: PayPal, bank transfer, or crypto. - Request a payout from your partner dashboard once your account is at least 30 days old and you have at least 3 conversions. One payout request at a time, at most one every 7 days. - Payouts are reviewed and paid on a bi-weekly schedule. - We may ask for a tax form (W-9 or W-8BEN) before paying you. #### Questions Email [support@seedr.cc]() or open your [partner dashboard](). --- # Frequently Asked Questions Canonical URL: https://www.seedr.cc/faq/ Updated: 2026-10-13T21:28:39.360Z Find answers to common questions about Seedr, including pricing, storage, billing, and account management. Seedr is a cloud-based service that fetches files from the internet to your personal cloud storage. Instead of downloading files directly to your device, Seedr downloads them to secure cloud servers where you can stream, manage, and download them at your convenience. Key benefits: • Stream videos instantly without waiting for downloads • Access files from any device with a web browser • Keep your IP address private — you never connect directly to download sources • No software to install — works entirely in your browser • Files stay available 24/7, even when your devices are off Try Seedr free ## What is Seedr? [Try Seedr free]() There are several ways to add files to your Seedr storage: 1. Paste a link: Copy any download URL and paste it into the "Add" field in Seedr 2. Drag and drop: Drag supported link files directly into your Seedr window 3. Browser extension: Right-click any download link and select "Send to Seedr" 4. Upload files: Upload files directly from your device to your Seedr storage Once added, Seedr fetches the file to your cloud storage. You can close your browser — downloading continues on our servers. Get started ## How do I add files to Seedr? [Get started]() The Seedr browser extension lets you send downloads directly to Seedr with a right-click: 1. Install the extension for Chrome, Firefox, or Edge 2. Log in to your Seedr account through the extension 3. Right-click any download link on any website 4. Select "Send to Seedr" from the context menu The file is added to your Seedr queue instantly. Get the Chrome extension ## How do I use the browser extension? [Get the Chrome extension]() No. Once you add a file to Seedr, the download happens entirely on our cloud servers. You can close your browser, turn off your computer, or switch devices — your download continues. This is one of the key advantages of Seedr: your devices don't do any of the downloading work. Check back anytime to find your files ready to stream or download. ## Do I need to keep my browser open while downloading? Yes! Seedr works on any device with a modern web browser: • iPhone and iPad (Safari, Chrome) • Android phones and tablets (Chrome, Firefox) • Desktop browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) The interface adapts to your screen size. You can stream videos, manage files, and download content directly to your mobile device. There's no app required — just visit seedr.cc in your browser. Compare plans ## How fast are downloads? [Compare plans]() Click any video file in your Seedr storage to open our built-in video player. Playback starts instantly — no waiting for the full download. Player features: • Adaptive bitrate streaming (auto-adjusts to your connection) • Quality selector (480p to 4K, depending on your plan) • Playback speed control (0.5x to 2x) • Built-in subtitle support (SRT, VTT, ASS) • Picture-in-picture mode • Chromecast support • Resume from where you left off Learn about streaming ## How do I stream videos from Seedr? [Learn about streaming]() Streaming quality depends on your plan: • Free accounts: Up to 480p • Premium accounts: Up to 1080p HD or 4K Ultra HD (depending on plan tier) Our player uses adaptive bitrate streaming, which automatically adjusts quality based on your connection speed. You can also manually select quality in the player settings. Upgrade for HD/4K ## What video quality can I stream? Enter your Seedr credentials 4. Plex/Jellyfin will scan and organize your media Note: WebDAV access requires a Master plan. Alternatively, you can use FTP (ftp.seedr.cc) which is available on Basic and higher plans. Plex setup guide ## How do I connect Seedr to Plex or Jellyfin? [Plex setup guide]() Yes! Seedr includes a built-in audio player with: • Support for MP3, FLAC, AAC, OGG, WAV, and more • Continuous playback through folders • Queue management • Album art display (when available) • Chromecast audio support Just click any audio file to start playback. ## Can I stream audio files? Seedr automatically detects subtitle files in your storage: • Supported formats: SRT, VTT, ASS/SSA • Auto-loads subtitles with matching filenames • Multiple subtitle tracks supported • Adjustable subtitle styling The video player will show a subtitles menu when tracks are available. ## How do subtitles work? Seedr uses your Google Drive data only to show, search, transfer and convert your files when you ask. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. You can disconnect Google Drive at any time in Settings → External services. Seedr's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Privacy Policy ## What does Seedr do with my Google Drive data? [Privacy Policy]() Yes. When you use Seedr: • Your IP address never connects to download sources — only Seedr's servers do • All connections between you and Seedr use HTTPS encryption • Your ISP can see you're connected to Seedr, but not what you're downloading Seedr acts as a privacy layer between you and the content you download. Learn about security ## Is my activity private? [Learn about security]() No. Your ISP can only see that you're connected to Seedr's servers. They cannot see: • What files you're downloading • What you're streaming • The content of your transfers This is because all traffic between you and Seedr is encrypted with HTTPS/TLS. The actual file downloads happen on Seedr's servers, not through your connection. ## Can my ISP see what I download? No. Your IP address is never exposed to download sources. Here's why: 1. You send a link to Seedr 2. Seedr's servers connect to the source and download the file 3. You stream or download from Seedr Download sources only see Seedr's server IP addresses, never yours. This provides a layer of privacy that direct downloads don't offer. How Seedr protects you ## Is my IP address visible to download sources? [How Seedr protects you]() In most cases, no. Seedr already provides: • Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) • IP address protection (sources never see your IP) • Private file storage Using a VPN with Seedr can actually slow down your streaming and downloads without adding meaningful privacy benefits. However, if you want to hide that you're using Seedr from your ISP, a VPN can provide that additional layer. ## Do I need a VPN with Seedr? You can reset your password using the email address associated with your account: 1. Click "Forgot password" on the login page 2. Enter your email address 3. Check your inbox for a reset link 4. Create a new password For security, password reset links expire after 24 hours. If you can't access your email, contact support for assistance. Reset password ## What happens if I forget my password? [Reset password]() Storage depends on your plan: • Free: 2GB • Premium Lite: 10GB • Premium Basic: 50GB • Premium Pro: 500GB • Premium Master: 1TB+ All plans include unlimited monthly transfers — only your stored files count against your limit. Delete files anytime to free up space. Compare plans ## How much storage do I get? [Compare plans]() The maximum file size equals your available storage space. If you have 50GB free, you can add a 50GB file. There's no artificial file size cap — the only limit is your storage plan. Premium accounts can handle very large files without issues. Get more storage ## Is there a file size limit? [Get more storage]() Seedr provides a full file management system: • Create folders to organize content • Move and copy files between folders • Rename files and folders • Bulk select and manage multiple items • Sort by name, date, or size You can also create folders before adding files, so new downloads go directly where you want them. ## How do I organize my files? Files remain in your storage until you delete them. Both free and paid accounts keep files indefinitely. When you cancel a paid subscription, your account reverts to free tier limits at the end of the billing period. ## How long are files kept? No. Seedr downloads files entirely on our cloud servers using our bandwidth, not yours. Your internet is only used when you: • Stream content from Seedr • Download files to your device • Upload files from your device The initial fetch from the source happens on our end, which is why you can close your browser and downloads continue. ## Does Seedr use my internet to fetch files? Seedr offers flexible plans to fit your needs: • Free: 2GB storage, 480p streaming, basic features • Premium Lite ($3.95/mo): 10GB, HD streaming • Premium Basic ($7.95/mo): 50GB, HD streaming • Premium Pro ($12.95/mo): 500GB, HD streaming • Premium Master ($19.95/mo): 1TB+, 4K streaming, WebDAV, FTP, priority support All paid plans include unlimited monthly transfers. Paid plans add task slots Upgrade for faster downloads ## Why are my downloads slow? [Upgrade for faster downloads]() Corrupted downloads are usually caused by interrupted browser downloads. Solutions: • Use a reliable file transfer tool that supports resuming • Resume incomplete downloads rather than starting over • Try a different browser • Check your available disk space Download managers can resume partial downloads and verify file integrity. ## My ZIP file downloads as corrupted. What's wrong? Video playback issues usually have simple fixes: • Slow connection: Lower the quality in the player settings • Unsupported format: Rare formats may need conversion (automatic for Premium) • Browser issue: Try a different browser or clear your cache • Ad blocker interference: Try disabling your ad blocker for Seedr If issues persist, try downloading the file and playing locally instead. ## Videos won't play or keep buffering. How do I fix this? If you can't log in: 1. Check that CAPS LOCK is off 2. Try the "Forgot password" option to reset 3. Clear your browser cookies and cache 4. Try a different browser 5. This section explains what we do with data we receive from Google and other connected providers. ##### What we access When you connect Google Drive, and only after you approve Google's consent screen, Seedr receives: - your Google account's email address and basic profile (name and profile picture), used to identify the connected account; - OAuth access and refresh tokens that let Seedr act on your Drive while it is connected; - **Google Drive** (full access): permission to see, edit, create and delete the files in your Google Drive; - **Google Drive Picker** (selected files): access only to the files you pick in Google's file picker, and files Seedr creates for you. **What Seedr can see. **With the full-access option you choose, under "What Seedr can see", either Entire Drive or Selected folders. With Selected folders, Seedr refuses to browse, search, preview, download or transfer anything outside the folders you chose. The search index described below also covers only the folders you chose. ##### How we use it We use Google data only to provide the features you use in Seedr: - showing your Drive folders and files in Seedr's file manager; - searching your Drive; - copying or moving files between Seedr and folders you choose, including by drag and drop; - renaming, deleting or creating files and folders when you ask; - converting a Drive file you select and saving the result to your Drive. Every transfer, change or conversion happens because you started it. ##### What we store, and for how long - **Tokens**: kept while the account is connected. When you disconnect, Seedr asks Google to revoke its access and deletes the tokens. If Google cannot be reached, we keep only the encrypted refresh token to retry the revoke, for at most 7 days, then delete it. - **Search index**: to make search fast, Seedr keeps a private index of your Drive: file names, folder paths, file types, sizes, dates and Drive file IDs. For PDF, Word (.docx), OpenDocument (.odt), PowerPoint (.pptx), Excel (.xlsx) and text-based files such as .txt, .csv, .rtf, .md, .json, .xml, .html and source code, up to 20 MB, it also keeps up to 256 KB of text from each file so you can search inside it. Google Docs, Sheets and Slides are not text-indexed. We do not index owners, sharing settings or thumbnails. The index is used only for your own searches in Seedr. - **When you disconnect**: the account is removed from search right away. If that fails, we retry automatically every minute until it succeeds. The underlying index data is erased when the index storage is next compacted. - **Files you copy into Seedr**: stored as your Seedr files, under the same rules as any other Seedr file, until you delete them. - **Conversions**: run on Seedr-operated servers, and the result is saved where you chose. ##### Sharing We do **not** sell Google user data. We do not transfer it to third parties, except: - to service providers that host Seedr's own infrastructure and act on our instructions; - when needed for security; - to comply with law; - as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, only with your explicit prior consent. We do not use Google user data for advertising. This applies notwithstanding the Marketing and Business Purposes sections above: we do not use Google user data for advertising or marketing. We do not allow humans to read it, except with your explicit permission (for example a support request you make), when needed for security, or to comply with law. ##### AI and machine learning We do not use Google user data, or data obtained through Google Workspace APIs, to develop, improve or train generalized or non-personalized AI or machine-learning models. Indexing and search run on Seedr's own servers; we do not send Google user data to third-party AI or analytics services. ##### Your controls - Disconnect Google Drive at any time in Settings → External services. Seedr then asks Google to revoke its access and deletes the tokens. If Google cannot be reached, we keep only the encrypted refresh token to retry the revoke, for at most 7 days, then delete it. - You can also remove Seedr's access at [myaccount.google.com/permissions](). - With full access, you can limit Seedr to selected folders under "What Seedr can see". - To delete your Seedr account and all its data, contact support@seedr.cc. Deleting your account also disconnects every connected cloud account (revoking Seedr's access, deleting our tokens as described above, and deleting our index). ##### Security - Google data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS). - The OAuth access and refresh tokens, and the stored credentials for connected cloud storage, are encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM). - Access is restricted to the systems that provide the features above. ##### Limited Use Seedr's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the [Google API Services User Data Policy](), including the Limited Use requirements. #### What about Children? You must be at least 13 years of age to use our Services (the "Minimum Age"). However, if the law in your jurisdiction requires you to be older in order for us to lawfully provide the Services to you and process your personal data without parental consent (for example, 16 years of age in Ireland), then the Minimum Age is such older age. We do not knowingly allow users under the Minimum Age to use the Services, disclose Personal Data or information, and do not knowingly allow our users to share Personal Data or information, from or about a child under the Minimum Age. If we find out that a user is under the Minimum Age, or that the Services contain Personal Data or information from or about a child under the Minimum Age, we will delete all Personal Data and information submitted by this user and their account as quickly as possible. If you know of a user of the Services who is under the Minimum Age, or if you believe that we have Personal Data or information from or about a child under the Minimum Age, please report us on support@seedr.cc. #### Links to Other Web Sites The Services may contain links to other websites and/or third party services. We are not responsible for the privacy policies of such websites and/or services, and we advise you to review their privacy policies. #### Storage and Security We are strongly committed to the protection of your Personal Data and information, and we will take reasonable technical steps, which are accepted in our industry, to keep your Information secure and protect it from loss, misuse or alteration. However, if you notice a risk or any security violations, we advise you to report to us on support@seedr.cc, so we can resolve it as soon as possible. We recommend that you use, disclose and share your Personal Data and information with caution and don't give out Personal Data and information unless it is necessary, as we cannot guarantee the security of data over the internet and cannot control actions of other users of the Services with whom you choose to share Personal Data and information. Among other measures, we employ encryption on connections between our servers, and in all connections to users of the service, and we encrypt the OAuth tokens and stored credentials for connected cloud storage at rest. Additionally, we engage in periodic security checks and scans on all our servers to proactively detect and plug any security holes. #### Deleting Your Account: Notice and removal You may, at any time, inform us that you wish to delete your account and/or remove your Personal Data from our servers by a written request to support@seedr.cc, and we shall remove your account and Personal Data in reasonable time. Disconnecting a cloud storage account deletes the access tokens we hold for it (except, for at most 7 days, the encrypted refresh token kept to retry a revoke Google has not confirmed) and removes it from our search index. Deleting your Seedr account also disconnects every connected cloud account in the same way; see "Google user data and connected cloud storage" above. Please be advised that after such removal of Personal Data, you shall not be able to use our Services any more. The above shall not apply to data already provided to third parties, according to the terms of this Privacy Policy, and based on your prior consent. #### Cookies Cookies are required by the Services in order to provide you with the best functionality. We use essential cookies for authentication and session management, and may use analytics cookies to understand service usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings. #### Other Terms 1. Changes to This Privacy Policy The Services and our business may change from time to time. As a result, at times it may be necessary for us to make changes to this Privacy Policy. We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time (collectively, "Modifications"). Modifications to this Privacy Policy will be posted to the Seedr website with a change to the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy. Please review this Privacy Policy periodically, and especially before you provide any Personal Data or information. This Privacy Policy was last updated on the date indicated above. Your continued use of the Services following the effectiveness of any Modifications to this Privacy Policy constitutes acceptance of those Modifications. If any Modification to this Privacy Policy is not acceptable to you, your sole remedy is to cease accessing, browsing and otherwise using the Services. 2. Dispute Resolution The laws of Ireland shall govern this Privacy Policy, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute which may arise in connection with this Privacy Policy shall be brought to the competent court in Dublin, Ireland, which shall be granted exclusive jurisdiction. --- # Seedr Features — Cloud Downloads, Streaming, Media Server & More Canonical URL: https://www.seedr.cc/products/ Updated: 2026-10-13T21:28:48.201Z Explore all Seedr features: cloud downloads, video streaming, 4K playback, Plex integration, WebDAV, automation, mobile access, and more. [Compare Master & Gold plans →]() ## How It Works Seedr converts videos to HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) — same tech as Netflix and YouTube. Video streams in your browser without downloading the full file first. - **Instant start:** Click play, video starts in seconds - **Adaptive bitrate:** Quality adjusts to your connection speed - **Seek anywhere:** Jump to any point without buffering the whole file - **Resume (v2):** Pick up where you left off, even on different device You can stream a 50GB 4K file without downloading it — you only fetch the segments you actually watch. ## Chromecast Cast from Seedr to your TV: 1. Start playing video in Seedr 2. Tap cast icon 3. Select your Chromecast 4. Video moves to TV Your phone/laptop becomes the remote — play, pause, seek, adjust volume, change quality. ### Supported Devices - **Chromecast with Google TV (4K):** Full 2160p support - **Chromecast Ultra:** Full 2160p support - **Chromecast (3rd gen):** Up to 1080p - **Android TV / Google TV:** Built-in cast, quality depends on device - **Smart TVs with Chromecast built-in:** Varies by TV model If your Chromecast doesn't support 4K, you'll get the highest quality it can handle. ## Media Server Integration Connect Seedr to your existing media server: - **Plex:** Mount via WebDAV, Plex scans and serves to all your devices - **Jellyfin:** Same WebDAV integration, open-source - **Roku:** Dedicated Seedr channel ### Why Use a Media Server? Media servers like Plex add features Seedr's built-in player doesn't have: automatic metadata fetching, poster art, watched status tracking across devices, and apps for every platform. Seedr provides the storage and bandwidth; Plex provides the interface. [Plex setup guide →]() ## Format Support ### Containers MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, WebM, FLV, WMV, M4V, MPEG, 3GP. MKV with embedded subtitles works. ### Video Codecs H.264, H.265 (HEVC), VP8, VP9, AV1, MPEG-4, MPEG-2. Common codecs play natively; rare ones get transcoded. ### Audio AAC, MP3, AC3, DTS (converted), FLAC, Opus. Multi-channel preserved where possible. ### Subtitles SRT, VTT, and embedded MKV subs. Timing adjustment if they're out of sync. ### What About Unsupported Formats? If a file uses a codec your browser can't play natively, Seedr transcodes it automatically. This adds a few seconds of processing time on first play. Once transcoded, subsequent plays are instant. [Full format details →]() ## Player Features - Quality selector (auto or manual) - Playback speed: 0.5x to 2x - Picture-in-Picture (v2) - Theater mode - Fullscreen with auto landscape on mobile - Keyboard shortcuts (Space, arrows, M, F) - Multi-audio track switching (v2) ### Keyboard Shortcuts Space Play/Pause ← / → Seek 10 seconds ↑ / ↓ Volume up/down M Mute/Unmute F Fullscreen C Subtitles on/off ## Offline Viewing (v2) Cache videos for offline playback: - Choose quality (480p saves space, 4K for full quality) - Start watching while it downloads - Pin videos to prevent auto-cleanup You can cache content before a flight and watch it offline. ### How Much Storage Does Caching Use? Quality ~1 Hour Video 480p ~300 MB 720p ~1.5 GB 1080p ~3 GB 4K ~10-15 GB Sizes vary based on content complexity. Action scenes compress less efficiently than static scenes. Master Plan Feature ## Streaming Quality ## Common Questions ### What speed do I need for 4K? 25+ Mbps recommended. The player auto-adjusts if your connection is slower — you'll get the best quality your bandwidth supports. ### Does HDR work? HDR passthrough depends on browser and device. Best results: Chrome on Windows/Mac, casting to HDR display. ### Can I stream on free plan? Yes, at 480p. Good enough for previewing or watching on small screens. ### Do I need to download files first? No. Streaming works directly from your Seedr storage. Files never touch your local disk unless you explicitly download them. ### Why does video take a moment to start sometimes? If the file needs transcoding (uncommon codecs), there's a brief processing delay on first play. Common formats like H.264 MP4 start instantly. ### Can I stream to my smart TV without Chromecast? Yes, if your TV has a web browser. Open seedr.cc, log in, and play. Quality depends on your TV's browser capabilities. For best results, use Chromecast or a media server integration. ### Does streaming use my Seedr storage quota? Files count against your storage quota while they exist in your account. Streaming itself doesn't use additional storage — you're not downloading a second copy. ### What's the difference between streaming quality and source quality? Streaming quality is capped by your plan. Source quality is the original file's resolution. If you have a 1080p file on a Master plan (4K capable), you'll see 1080p — we don't artificially upscale. ### Can I share a streaming link with someone? Not directly — streaming requires authentication. To share files, use Seedr's sharing feature to generate a download link. Recipients can then stream from their own browser. Your files live in the cloud. Every device you own can access the same library instantly. Add a file from your work computer during lunch. Watch it on your phone during your commute. Finish it on your TV when you get home. No syncing. No transfers. No waiting. This isn't just convenience — it fundamentally changes how you think about downloaded content. You're not managing files scattered across devices. You have one library that exists everywhere. ## Real-World Scenarios ### Work → Commute → Home Find something interesting during your lunch break. Add it to Seedr from your work computer (or phone). On your train ride home, it's already downloaded and ready to stream on your phone. When you walk in the door, cast it to your TV and watch on the big screen. One file, three devices, zero effort. ### Traveling Queue up content before your trip. Downloads happen in the cloud whether your laptop is open or not. At the airport, stream on your tablet. In the hotel, cast to the room's TV via Chromecast. Everything's there, everywhere. ### Family Sharing Share your Seedr library with family. Everyone gets access to the same content on their own devices — no copying, no transfers. One library, everyone connected. ### Phone Storage Problems Your phone has 64GB. You're already at 58GB. Traditional downloading means deleting stuff to make room. With Seedr, stream directly — the file stays in the cloud. Your phone storage stays untouched. Only download to device when you specifically want the file offline. ### Multiple Computers Work laptop, home desktop, living room HTPC. Same library on all of them. Mount via WebDAV (Master plan) and your Seedr storage appears as a drive on each machine. ## How to Access Your Files ### Web Browser Visit seedr.cc from any browser on any device. [PWA installation guide →]() ## Media Library Automation For serious media library management, Seedr integrates with popular media automation tools. These tools automatically find and fetch content based on your preferences. Full media automation requires a Premium plan (Pro, Master, or Gold). This unlocks the API access and concurrent fetch slots needed for automated workflows. ### What Are Media Automation Tools? - **Series automation:** Automatically manages TV series. Monitors RSS feeds for new episodes, finds them, sends to Seedr. - **Movie automation:** Same concept for movies. Add movies to your wanted list, automation handles the rest. - **Music automation:** Music library automation. - **Book automation:** Books and audiobooks. - **Feed management:** Indexer manager that syncs RSS feeds across all your media automation tools. ### How RSS Powers the Automation The magic behind media automation is RSS (Really Simple Syndication). Here's how it works: 1. Indexers publish RSS feeds listing new content as it becomes available 2. Feed managers aggregate these feeds and share them with your automation tools 3. Your automation tools monitor the feeds continuously, checking for matches 4. When a match is found (a movie you wanted, a new episode of a show), the tool sends the link to Seedr via API 5. Seedr fetches the file to your cloud storage 6. Your media server (Plex, Jellyfin) picks up the new content automatically via WebDAV You set your preferences once. The RSS feeds, automation tools, and Seedr work together continuously — checking, fetching, organizing — without any manual intervention. ### Setting Up Seedr in Your Automation Tool Configure Seedr as the fetch target in your automation tool: 1. Get your Seedr API key from your account settings 2. In your automation tool, go to Settings → Client → Add 3. Select the Seedr client option 4. Enter your API credentials 5. Configure your preferred folder in Seedr 6. Test the connection and save [Complete media automation setup guide →]() ### The Complete Automated Pipeline With everything configured, here's what happens: 1. You add a movie (or a series) to your wanted list 2. The automation tool monitors RSS feeds continuously 3. When content appears in the feeds, it's automatically grabbed 4. Seedr fetches at gigabit speed on our servers 5. Plex/Jellyfin scans the new file via WebDAV mount 6. Content appears in your media library, ready to watch You did nothing after step 1. The RSS feeds, automation tools, and Seedr handled everything automatically. ### Why Premium for Automation? Media automation tools make frequent API calls and often queue multiple fetches simultaneously. Premium plans provide the API rate limits, concurrent fetch slots, and WebDAV/FTP access that make this workflow possible. Free plans are designed for manual, one-at-a-time usage. ## REST API: Full Programmatic Control For developers and power users who want complete control, our REST API exposes every Seedr feature. API rate limits vary by plan. Free plans allow basic operations. Premium plans unlock the higher rate limits needed for automation tools. ### What You Can Automate - **Add links:** POST a link or URL, fetch starts - **Monitor progress:** Poll for fetch status, get completion events - **Manage files:** List, move, rename, delete programmatically - **Get streaming URLs:** Retrieve direct playback links for external players - **Check account:** Storage usage, bandwidth, plan details ### Integration Ideas - **Custom scripts:** Bash, Python, Node.js — any language that can make HTTP requests - **iOS Shortcuts:** Call the API from Shortcuts to add links with one tap - **Monitoring dashboards:** Build custom UIs for your specific workflow [API documentation →]() ## Automation Comparison Method Best For Effort Level Plan Required Browser Extension Quick one-off links while browsing One click per link Free Mobile Share Sheet Adding links from phone apps Two taps per link Free Media Automation Automated media library building Setup once, fully automatic Premium REST API (advanced) Custom workflows and integrations Requires programming Premium for full access Start Automating [Start Automating]() Browser extension free. Full automation on Premium. ## Common Questions ### Do I need to code to use automation? No. Browser extensions and mobile share sheets require zero coding and work on all plans including free. Media automation tools have graphical interfaces but require a Premium plan. Only custom API integrations require programming. ### Why does media automation require Premium? Media automation tools make frequent API calls (checking RSS feeds, adding links, monitoring progress) and often queue multiple fetches simultaneously. Premium plans provide the API rate limits and concurrent fetch slots needed for this automated workflow. ### Can media automation tools use Seedr directly? Yes. With a Premium plan, add Seedr as a client using your API credentials. Fetches go to your Seedr cloud storage, which you can access via WebDAV (Master+) or FTP (Basic+). ### How do RSS feeds fit into media automation? RSS is the backbone of media automation. Indexers publish RSS feeds of new content. Feed managers aggregate these feeds. Automation tools continuously monitor the feeds and automatically grab content matching your wanted list, sending links to Seedr via API. It's fully hands-free once configured. ### Can I automate cleanup of old files? Yes. Use the API to script file management. List files older than X days and delete them programmatically. Many users set up cron jobs or scheduled tasks to maintain their storage automatically. ### Does the browser extension work on Firefox? Currently Chrome and Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Brave, Vivaldi) are supported. On Firefox, use the web interface or mobile share sheet. ### What's the difference between free and Premium API access? Free plans have basic API access with lower rate limits, suitable for occasional manual scripts. Premium plans unlock higher rate limits needed for continuous automation tools that make frequent API calls. Seedr is the fastest way to get files into your cloud and view them from any device. ## Fetch to the Cloud, Access From Anywhere Traditional file tools bring files to your device. You wait for the transfer. You manage the storage. You figure out how to access it from your phone or TV. And if your connection drops, you start over. Seedr works differently. Instead of saving to your device, files land on our cloud servers at gigabit speeds. Once there, you can stream videos instantly, fetch a copy to any device, or just leave them in the cloud until you need them. No software to install. No ports to configure. No waiting for slow connections. Add a link, and Seedr handles the rest. Gigabit Speeds No Software Needed Access Anywhere ## How It Works Seedr is designed around one simple workflow: Media links, direct file URLs, supported site links ## Paste a Link Our servers fetch at gigabit speeds — minutes, not hours ## We Fetch It Stream, fetch a copy, or cast to any device ## Access Anywhere Your files stay in your Seedr account until you delete them. Access from your phone at work, your laptop at home, your tablet on the train. No syncing. No transferring files between devices. Just log in and your content is there. ## Why Fetch to the Cloud? Saving files to local storage made sense when internet was slow and cloud storage didn't exist. Today, cloud-based fetching solves problems you didn't know you had: A 50GB video library doesn't need to sit on your laptop's SSD. Keep it in Seedr, stream what you want, fetch only what you need offline. ## Your Device Storage Stays Free Seedr's servers run on enterprise-grade connections. A file that takes 2 hours on your 50Mbps line? Under 2 minutes on our infrastructure. ## Gigabit Fetch Speeds Close your laptop. Let your phone sleep. Lose WiFi for an hour. The transfer continues on our servers regardless. ## Transfers Never Drop Log in from your phone, desktop, or even a friend's computer. Your files are always accessible. No USB drives needed. ## Access From Any Device Most files you want to watch, you don't need to keep. Stream video directly in your browser. Save a copy only if you decide to keep it. ## Stream Without Saving ## What Can You Fetch? Seedr supports multiple ways to add content: Copy any supported link, paste into Seedr. We handle the transfer entirely server-side. No client software. No router configuration. Media Links URLs that point directly to files (.zip, .mp4, etc.) can be fetched by our servers. Great for large files from hosting services. Direct File Links Many popular hosting sites work with Seedr. Paste the page URL and our system extracts the fetch link automatically. Supported Sites Our Chrome extension adds a right-click option to send links directly to Seedr. It's fetching before you finish reading the page. Browser Extension ## File Management Seedr isn't just a fetch tool — it's cloud storage designed around file transfers. ZIP, RAR, 7Z — archives become browsable immediately. No extraction needed. Navigate inside like a folder, stream videos directly from within, save individual files without extracting everything. ## Smart Archive Handling ### Organize Your Files - **Folders:** Create folders, move files, rename things. Organize however you want. - **Search:** Find files by name across your entire library. - **Bulk operations:** Select multiple files for moving, deleting, or saving together. ### Storage Tiers Free accounts get 2GB to try things out. Premium plans scale up to 1TB+ of storage. Files stay until you delete them — no auto-expiration on paid plans. ## Built-in Playback Most cloud tools stop at storage. Seedr goes further with a full video player built in. Click a video, start watching. No waiting first. Streaming starts in seconds. ## Instant Playback MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, and more. We handle transcoding automatically. ## All Formats External SRT/VTT files and embedded MKV subtitles. Timing adjustment if they're out of sync. ## Subtitles Cast to your TV with one tap. Full remote control from your phone. ## Chromecast Audio files play too. PDF viewer. EPUB reader for ebooks. Code viewer with syntax highlighting. Seedr fetches files to our servers (which run on enterprise-grade connections), then you stream or save from us. The result is effectively faster access to your files, regardless of how slow your home line is. ### What links work? Any valid link or URL we support. Paste it, we fetch it. No client software needed on your end. ### How fast are transfers? Our servers run on gigabit connections. Most popular content arrives in minutes. Less common content may take longer depending on availability, but the transfer happens on our end regardless of your connection speed. ### Can I use Seedr on my phone? Yes. The web app works great on mobile browsers. Add links, manage files, stream videos — everything works. You can even add Seedr to your home screen for an app-like experience. ### Is there a desktop app? Seedr is entirely web-based — no app to install. This means it works anywhere you have a browser, always up to date, nothing to maintain on your end. For deeper integration, use FTP or WebDAV to mount Seedr as a drive. ### What happens when I run out of storage? Delete files you don't need anymore, or upgrade your plan for more space. We won't auto-delete your files — you control what stays and what goes. ### Can I access my files from multiple devices? Yes. Log in from any device — phone, laptop, tablet, TV — and your files are there. Stream video, fetch files, or browse your library from anywhere. No syncing required. ### Why should I pay when free works? Free is great for trying Seedr. But 2GB fills up fast. Premium gives you more storage, faster processing, higher quality streaming, and FTP/WebDAV access. If you use Seedr regularly, Premium removes the friction. ### What's the difference between v1 and v2? v2 is our next-generation platform — faster, more features, better streaming (up to 4K). It is available to everyone, free and Premium, and you can use both versions. ### Is my content private? Your account is yours. We don't browse your files. Your content stays private by default. Standard privacy policy applies. No codecs to install. Multiple audio tracks, subtitles, 4K support. Works on any device. ## The Video Player That Actually Works You've got a video file. You want to watch it. But your browser says it can't play MKV files. Or the codec isn't supported. Or you need to download some plugin. Or convert it first. Sound familiar? Seedr's player handles all of that. Upload your file — any format — and click play. We convert incompatible formats automatically in the background. No codec packs to install. No conversion software to download. No waiting for a file to process before you can watch. Most videos start playing within seconds. This isn't a basic HTML5 player that only handles MP4. This is a full-featured video player built to handle the formats people actually have. ## Supported Video Formats ### Containers The container is the "wrapper" that holds video, audio, and subtitle tracks together: - **MKV (Matroska)** — The most versatile container. Supports multiple audio tracks and multiple subtitle tracks. Seedr handles MKV files fully, including track switching during playback. - **MP4 / M4V** — Standard web format. Usually plays directly without conversion. - **AVI** — Older format, still common. Full support. - **MOV** — Apple's format. Works great. - **WebM** — Google's open format. Native browser support. - **WMV / ASF** — Windows Media formats. Supported. - **FLV** — Flash video. Still works despite Flash being dead. - **MPEG / MPG** — Classic format. Supported. - **3GP** — Mobile video format. Supported. - **OGV** — Ogg video. Supported. - **TS / MTS / M2TS** — Transport stream formats from cameras and broadcasts. Supported. ### Video Codecs The codec is how the video is compressed inside the container: - **H.264 / AVC** — The most common codec. Plays directly in all browsers. - **H.265 / HEVC** — Newer, more efficient codec. Native support in Safari and Edge; transcoded for other browsers if needed. - **VP8 / VP9** — Google's codecs used by YouTube. Native browser support. - **AV1** — Next-gen codec. Supported where browsers allow. - **MPEG-4** — Older but common. Supported. - **MPEG-2** — DVD-era codec. Supported. - **WMV / VC-1** — Windows codecs. Transcoded automatically. - **Xvid / DivX** — Classic codecs from the 2000s. Still work. ### Audio Codecs - **AAC** — Standard. Direct playback. - **MP3** — Universal. Direct playback. - **AC3 / E-AC3 (Dolby Digital)** — Common in high-quality releases. Transcoded for browser playback while preserving quality. - **DTS** — Premium audio format. Transcoded to compatible format. - **FLAC** — Lossless audio. Supported. - **Opus / Vorbis** — Open formats. Native support. - **PCM / WAV** — Uncompressed audio. Supported. ## MKV Files: Full Support MKV is the most popular container for high-quality video, and for good reason — it supports features that MP4 doesn't. Seedr handles MKV files completely: ### Multiple Audio Tracks (v2) Many MKV files include multiple audio tracks — original language, dubbed versions, commentary tracks. On Seedr v2, switch between them during playback without restarting the video. The track selector shows available options. (Available on v2.) ### Multiple Subtitle Tracks Same for subtitles. English, Spanish, forced subtitles only, SDH (subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing) — switch between them on the fly. Seedr supports: - **SRT** — Text-based subtitles (embedded or external files) - **VTT** — Web subtitle format - **ASS / SSA** — Styled subtitles with fonts, colors, and positioning - **PGS** — Blu-ray image-based subtitles ### Subtitle Timing Adjustment Subtitles out of sync? Use the timing adjustment control to shift subtitles forward or backward in increments as small as 0.1 seconds. No need to edit the subtitle file — adjust on the fly. ## How Format Conversion Works Not every format can play directly in web browsers. When you add a file that needs conversion, here's what happens: 1. **Instant analysis** — Seedr identifies the file format, codecs, and tracks within seconds. 2. **Background processing** — If conversion is needed, it happens on our servers. You'll see progress in the interface. 3. **Streaming while converting** — For most files, you can start watching before conversion finishes. We process from the beginning of the file first. 4. **Original preserved** — The original file stays intact. Conversion creates a streamable version alongside it. ### What Plays Directly (No Conversion) - MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio — instant playback - WebM with VP8/VP9 video — instant playback - Many MKV files with compatible codecs ### What Needs Conversion - MKV with DTS or AC3 audio (audio gets transcoded) - AVI files (container converted) - HEVC video on browsers without native support - Unusual or very old codecs Conversion typically takes 1-5 minutes depending on file size and complexity. Most files are ready before you finish reading this paragraph. ## Player Features - **Adaptive bitrate streaming** — Quality adjusts to your connection. Starts fast, improves as it buffers. - **Quality selector** — Choose your streaming quality. v2 with Premium unlocks resolutions above HD. - **Playback speed** — 0.5x to 2x speed without audio pitch distortion. - **Picture-in-Picture (v2)** — Pop out video to a floating window while you browse. - **Chromecast** — Cast to your TV with one tap. - **Resume playback (v2)** — Pick up where you left off, even on different devices. - **Keyboard shortcuts** — Space for play/pause, arrows to seek, M to mute, F for fullscreen. - **Theater mode** — Expanded player without going full-screen. - **Mobile optimized** — Touch-friendly controls, gesture support, orientation lock. ## Seedr vs. Other Online Players Feature Typical Web Player Seedr MKV support No or limited Full — including multi-track Audio track switching No Yes — all tracks available Subtitle support Basic SRT only SRT, VTT, ASS, PGS + timing sync HEVC / H.265 Usually no Yes — native or transcoded DTS / AC3 audio No Yes — transcoded for playback Quality options Fixed or limited 480p free, higher on v2 with Premium Chromecast Rarely Built-in File size limit Often restricted Up to your storage quota Try Now [Try Now]() Upload any video. Rate limits vary by plan tier. ### Do I need coding skills? For basic use, no. Browser extensions, share sheets, and media server integrations work without code. For custom automation and scripts, basic programming knowledge helps. ### Can I use Seedr with /? Yes. Configure Seedr as a download client using API credentials. Your automation tools sends downloads to Seedr, and you access completed files via WebDAV or FTP. ### Which plan do I need for integrations? API: All plans. WebDAV: Master plan. FTP: Pro and above. Browser extension and mobile share: All plans. ### Is there a rate limit? Yes, to prevent abuse. Limits are generous for normal use. Contact support if you need higher limits for a specific use case. ### What is the Seedr Connector? A small program that runs on your NAS or on a Linux machine on your home network. It lets you mount the NAS folders you choose in Seedr, next to your other storages. It makes one outgoing, encrypted connection to Seedr on TCP port 443, so you need no port forwarding and no public IP address. Setup guide: Mount your NAS in Seedr with the Seedr Connector. ### Which NAS devices work with the Seedr Connector? Synology (Container Manager), QNAP (Container Station), TrueNAS SCALE (Custom App), Unraid (Docker) and any machine with Docker or Docker Compose. On Linux without Docker you can run the binary (amd64, arm64 or armv7) under your NAS service supervisor. See the Mount your NAS in Seedr with the Seedr Connector guide for the steps. ### Is the Seedr Connector safe? It is built to expose as little as possible. Seedr never gets your NAS password and sees only the folders you list in its configuration, each of which can be read-only. It runs as the owner of your NAS share, not as root, and needs no privileged mode, no published ports and no Docker socket. You can revoke access at any time. ### How do I disconnect or revoke a Seedr Connector? Open Settings, go to the Seedr Connector screen and choose Revoke access under Your connectors. Access is cut off within seconds, even during a transfer. You can connect several NAS devices to one account and revoke each one separately. ### The Seedr Connector shows an error. What should I do? Check the Seedr Connector screen in Settings: it shows each connector's online status and when it was last seen. If the Connector cannot open its configuration, check the path and file permissions. If access was revoked, run pair again. If you still need help, contact Seedr support. ### How do I update the Seedr Connector? Stop the Connector, keep your config and state folders, replace the image tag or the binary with the new version, and start it again. With Docker Compose, run docker compose pull && docker compose up -d. Mount via WebDAV, connect to Plex or Jellyfin. 1TB for $19.95/mo. No NAS hardware needed. You run Plex or Jellyfin. You need storage that your media server can access. Seedr provides the cloud backend — terabytes of storage that mounts as a network drive. Your media server handles the interface; Seedr handles the files. ## How It Works 1. **Add content to Seedr** — Paste links, use automation tools, or upload directly 2. **Mount via WebDAV** — Your Seedr storage appears as a network drive 3. **Point your media server at it** — Plex/Jellyfin scans and indexes your library 4. **Stream to any device** — Your media server serves content to all your clients Seedr becomes invisible infrastructure. Your family sees Plex with movie posters and TV show seasons. Behind the scenes, files live in Seedr's cloud. ## Why Cloud Storage for Media Servers? ### No Hardware to Buy or Maintain Traditional setup: NAS device ($300-800), hard drives ($50-150 each), RAID configuration, replacement drives when they fail. With Seedr: subscribe, mount, done. No upfront cost, no hardware failures, no drive replacements. ### No Electricity Bills A NAS running 24/7 adds $5-15/month to your electricity bill. Drives spinning, fans running, UPS battery backup. Seedr runs on our infrastructure — your electricity cost is zero. ### Access From Anywhere Local NAS requires VPN or router configuration for remote access. Seedr is already in the cloud — access your media server from anywhere without network configuration. ### Faster Downloads Seedr downloads on 10Gbit servers. A file that takes an hour on your home connection finishes in seconds on ours. Content is ready to watch almost immediately. ## Supported Media Servers ### Plex Mount Seedr via WebDAV or FTP. Add as a library source in Plex. Plex scans your content, fetches metadata from online databases, organizes into movies/shows/music, and serves to any Plex client. But with Seedr, you skip the upfront investment, avoid hardware hassles, and get faster downloads from day one. ## Automation Pipeline The real power comes from automation. Connect Seedr to your media automation tools: 1. **Automation tool** monitors for content you want 2. When found, sends download to **Seedr** via API 3. Seedr downloads at gigabit speed 4. **Plex/Jellyfin** scans the new file via WebDAV 5. Content appears in your library, ready to watch You add a movie to your wanted list. Gold Four at 10TB with 100 tasks is effectively a full cloud media server. [Compare all plans →]() ## What You Still Need Seedr provides storage and downloading. You still need: - **A Plex/Jellyfin server** — Can be your PC, a NAS (used as server only, not storage), a mini PC, or a cloud VPS - **A way to mount WebDAV** — Built into Windows, Mac, and Linux. NAS devices also support it. - **Client devices** — Smart TV, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, phones, etc. (you probably already have these) The Plex/Jellyfin server can be low-powered since it's not storing files locally — it just needs to run the server software and mount the network drive. ## Common Questions ### Is there latency when streaming from cloud storage? Minimal. WebDAV performs well for media streaming. Plex/Jellyfin buffer ahead, so you won't notice the network latency. Direct play works smoothly; transcoding adds the same delay it would with local storage. ### Can multiple people stream at once? Yes. Your Plex/Jellyfin server handles multiple streams as usual. Seedr serves the files; your server distributes to clients. ### What about transcoding? Transcoding happens on your Plex/Jellyfin server, not on Seedr. If your server has a good CPU or hardware transcoding, it works the same as with local files. ### Can I use Seedr without Plex/Jellyfin? Yes. Seedr has its own streaming player. But media server software adds metadata, organization, multi-user support, and apps for every platform. ### What if my internet goes down? No access to cloud storage. Same limitation as any cloud service. For critical viewing, cache content locally or keep a small local library. ### Is 1TB enough? Depends on your habits. If you watch and delete, 1TB cycles through a lot of content. If you hoard everything permanently, consider Gold tiers. You can upgrade anytime. This means you can add a file from your laptop during lunch, then stream it on your phone during your commute — no syncing, no transfers, no waiting. Start a download at home before work, and it's ready to watch when you're on the train. We built Seedr as a Progressive Web App (PWA), which gives you an app-like experience directly from your browser. Install it to your home screen on any device. No app store required — just visit seedr.cc and tap "Add to Home Screen." The PWA receives updates automatically, so you're always on the latest version without manual updates. This cloud-first approach solves real problems that plague traditional download apps. You're not limited by your phone's storage — files live in your cloud locker, and you only download what you actually want to keep. Your mobile data isn't wasted downloading huge files — our servers do the heavy lifting, and you just stream the content you watch. iOS & Android Smart TVs Any Browser ## Supported Platforms ### Mobile Devices - **iOS 12+ (iPhone & iPad)** — Install as PWA directly from Safari. Use the native Share Sheet to send links to Seedr from any app — Safari, Chrome, Twitter, Reddit, or anywhere else you find links. Two taps: Share → Seedr → done. Downloads happen on our servers in the background — close the app, your download continues. Works great on both iPhones and iPads, with the interface adapting to your screen size. - **Android 5+ (all phones and tablets)** — Install as PWA from Chrome or any Chromium-based browser. Android's Share menu integration means you can send links to Seedr from literally any app that supports sharing. The PWA integrates deeply with Android — set it as your default handler for links, access files through your file manager, and receive notifications when downloads complete. Tested on devices from budget phones to Samsung flagships. ### Desktop Browsers - **Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge** — The full Seedr experience with all features. Drag and drop files or links directly onto the page. Use keyboard shortcuts for power users (arrow keys to navigate, Enter to open, Delete to remove). Multi-select files with Ctrl/Cmd+click for batch operations. Right-click context menus for quick actions. The interface scales from laptops to 4K monitors. - **Chrome Extension** — Right-click any link on any webpage to send it directly to Seedr. No need to copy-paste or switch tabs. The extension adds a toolbar button for quick access to your Seedr dashboard. Works on Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, and other Chromium-based browsers. ### TV and Media Centers Watch your Seedr library on the big screen. We support multiple ways to get your content to your TV, from simple casting to full media server integration: - **Chromecast** — Built-in support in our video player. Tap the cast icon, select your device, and video instantly appears on your TV. Your phone becomes the remote control — play, pause, seek, adjust volume, switch quality, enable subtitles. State syncs bidirectionally, so actions on either device update the other. - **Roku** — Access your entire Seedr library directly on Roku devices. Browse folders, search for files, and stream video without needing any other device as a controller. [Complete Roku setup guide →]() - **Plex** — Connect your Seedr storage to Plex as a library source. [WebDAV setup guide →]() | [FTP connection guide →]() - **Jellyfin** — Prefer self-hosted, open-source software? Jellyfin works great with Seedr. Mount your Seedr storage as a network location via WebDAV, and Jellyfin handles the rest — metadata, transcoding, subtitles, multi-user access. Your media server, your rules. [Jellyfin + Seedr integration guide →]() ## How Mobile Downloading Actually Works Traditional downloading on mobile is painful. Large files eat your data plan, drain your battery as your phone works to maintain the connection, fill up your limited storage, and if your connection drops mid-download, you often have to start over. Seedr eliminates all of these problems by moving the download to the cloud. Find a file URL anywhere on the web. Tap the Share button, then tap Seedr. That's it — your work on mobile is done. You can also paste links directly into the Seedr app if you prefer. ## Share a link to Seedr Our servers fetch the file using high-speed data center connections. Your phone stays cool (no CPU-intensive downloading), your battery stays full, and your mobile data plan stays intact. Downloads continue even if you close the app, lose signal, or turn off your phone entirely. ## Seedr's servers handle the download Once the file is in your Seedr storage, watch it immediately via streaming (uses minimal data — only what you actually watch) or download it to your device for offline access. Your choice, and you can decide later. ## Stream or download when you're ready This approach is especially powerful for large files. A 50GB file would take hours on mobile data (and eat through your data cap). With Seedr, our servers grab it in minutes using our gigabit connections, and you stream just the portions you actually watch — typically a few hundred megabytes instead of the full 50GB. ## The Share Sheet: Your Mobile Shortcut Both iOS and Android have built-in sharing systems that let apps send content to each other. Seedr hooks into this system deeply, making it incredibly fast to grab links from anywhere on the web: - **From Safari or Chrome:** Long-press any link → Share → Seedr. The download starts on our servers immediately. - **From Reddit, Twitter, or any social app:** See an interesting link in a post? Tap share → Seedr. No need to open it in a browser first. - **From email or messaging apps:** Someone sent you a link? Share → Seedr. - **From file manager apps:** Have a download link file? Share it to Seedr and we'll process it. The Share Sheet integration means two taps from anywhere replaces the old workflow of copy-paste-switch-apps-paste-wait. It's the fastest way to send links to Seedr. ## Offline Mode (v2) Heading somewhere without internet? Seedr v2 supports offline caching. Save content before you leave WiFi, then watch anywhere — flights, road trips, camping, underground metro. Pick from 480p to 2160p (limited by your plan). Lower quality = smaller files. Higher quality for tablets and TVs. ## Choose your quality: Start watching immediately as segments download. No waiting for the full file. Play while downloading: Pinned content stays cached and won't be cleaned up automatically. Pin important videos: Unpinned videos use LRU (least recently used) cleanup when space is needed. No arbitrary expiration dates. Smart storage management: Once cached, videos play without any connection. Watch offline: Offline caching is a v2 feature, available to everyone. ## Casting to Your TV Your phone is great for finding and managing content. Your TV is great for actually watching it. Seedr bridges the gap with native casting support and deep integration with home theater software. ### Chromecast (Built-in) Our video player includes a Chromecast button whenever a compatible device is on your network. Tap it, select your Chromecast, and video moves to your TV in seconds. Your phone becomes a full-featured remote control: - Play, pause, seek to any position in the video - Volume control (including mute) - Quality switching (options depend on plan and version) - Subtitle selection and timing adjustment - Up Next queue — line up what to watch next State synchronizes bidirectionally. Pause on your phone, it pauses on TV. Someone adjusts volume on the TV, your phone shows the change. If connection drops, the player recovers automatically when signal returns. They fall apart in real mobile situations: - **Large file on mobile data?** Local apps eat your data plan and take forever. Seedr's servers download it instantly on our fast connections; you stream only what you watch. - **Phone storage full?** Local apps can't download anything until you delete stuff. Seedr stores files in the cloud — access them without using local storage. - **Connection drops mid-download?** Local apps may lose progress or corrupt the file. Seedr downloads happen on our stable servers; your connection doesn't matter. - **Want to watch on your TV?** Local apps require awkward file transfers or cables. Seedr casts directly or integrates with your media server. - **Need the file on another device?** Local apps keep files on one device. Seedr: one cloud library, accessible from everything you own. - **Battery dying?** Local downloading is CPU-intensive and drains battery fast. Seedr's cloud downloading uses almost no battery — your phone just waits. ## Local App vs. Seedr: Side-by-Side Situation Local App Seedr Large file (10GB+) Hours on mobile data, drains battery Ready in minutes, stream what you need Phone storage full Can't download until you delete files Stream directly, no local storage used Connection drops Download may fail or corrupt Server keeps downloading, resume anytime Watch on TV Need cables or awkward transfers Cast with one tap, or use Plex Multiple devices Manually transfer files between devices One cloud library, access from anywhere Battery life Heavy CPU use drains battery Minimal usage — phone just displays Offline access Must download entire file first Cache specific content, choose quality Try Seedr Free [Try Seedr Free]() 2GB storage included. This gives you an app-like experience without going through app stores. Tap "Add to Home Screen" in Safari (iOS) or Chrome (Android). The PWA receives updates automatically, works offline, and integrates with your system's Share menu. ### Does it work on older phones? Yes. Seedr runs on iOS 12+ (iPhone 5s and newer) and Android 5+ (most phones from 2014 onwards). The web-based approach means we support a much wider range of devices than native apps typically do. ### Can I download files for offline use? Yes. On v2, you can cache content for offline viewing — choose your quality and watch without a connection. You can also download the original files to your device on any version. ### How do I send links to Seedr from other apps? Use your phone's Share button. When you find a link in Safari, Chrome, Reddit, Twitter, or any app, tap Share → Seedr. The link is sent to our servers instantly. Two taps from anywhere replaces the old copy-paste workflow. ### Does casting work from mobile? Yes. Chromecast integration is built into our video player. Tap the cast icon, select your device, and video plays on your TV. Your phone becomes the remote control. Also works with Roku, Plex, and Jellyfin through their respective apps. ### Can I manage files on mobile? The full file manager works on mobile — create folders, move files, rename, multi-select, search. The interface adapts to touch with gestures like long-press for selection and swipe for actions. Not a stripped-down mobile version; it's the real thing. ### What about tablets? iPads and Android tablets work great. The interface scales to larger screens, showing more content and using the extra space effectively. Install as a PWA for the best experience. ### How much data does streaming use? Depends on quality. Lower quality uses less data; higher quality uses more. The player adjusts automatically based on your connection. Your cloud files appear in Plex with automatic metadata, artwork, and organization. Add content remotely, access anywhere. ## Turn Seedr Into a Plex Library Plex is the best way to organize and stream your media collection. Seedr is the best way to build that collection. Together, they create a seamless experience: add files to Seedr from anywhere, and they automatically appear in your Plex library — complete with metadata, artwork, and organized by title. No manual file transfers. No waiting for downloads to finish before watching. Add content to Seedr on your phone during lunch, and it's ready to watch on your TV when you get home — already cataloged in Plex with poster art and episode information. The integration works through standard protocols (WebDAV or FTP) that Plex natively supports. Mount your Seedr storage as a network location, point Plex at it, and you're done. Plex handles the rest: scanning, identifying, fetching metadata, transcoding if needed, and serving to any Plex client. ## How It Works 1. **Connect Seedr to Plex** — Add your Seedr WebDAV or FTP credentials as a network location in your operating system, then add that location as a Plex library source. 2. **Plex scans your Seedr storage** — Plex identifies your files, matches them to online databases, and downloads metadata, artwork, and descriptions automatically. 3. **Add files to Seedr from anywhere** — Use the Seedr app, browser, or Share menu on your phone. Files land in your cloud storage. 4. **Plex picks them up automatically** — On the next library scan (or manually triggered), new content appears in your Plex library, fully organized. 5. **Stream to any device** — Watch on Plex apps for smart TVs, Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, game consoles, phones, tablets, or browsers. Your Seedr storage becomes just another source in your Plex ecosystem. If you already use Plex, you know how to use this — it's the same experience you're used to, just with cloud storage instead of local drives. ## Two Connection Methods ### WebDAV (Recommended — Master Plan) WebDAV mounts your Seedr storage as a network drive. It's the cleanest integration: - **Native OS support** — Windows, macOS, and Linux all support WebDAV natively. No additional software needed. - **Real-time access** — Files appear immediately. No sync delays. - **High-speed transfers** — Direct streaming from Seedr servers through the WebDAV connection. - **Secure** — Encrypted connection using your Seedr credentials. [Step-by-step WebDAV + Plex setup guide →]() ### FTP (Pro+ Plans) FTP is widely supported and works with more configurations: - **Universal compatibility** — Works with any FTP client or system that supports FTP mounts. - **Flexible** — Some NAS devices and Linux setups work better with FTP. - **Proven technology** — FTP has been around for decades. It just works. [Step-by-step FTP + Plex setup guide →]() ### Which Should I Use? If you have a Master plan: WebDAV. It's simpler to set up and more tightly integrated with modern operating systems. If you have a Pro plan: FTP works great. The end result is the same — your Seedr files accessible to Plex. ## What Plex Does With Your Seedr Files Once connected, Plex treats your Seedr storage like any other library source: ### Automatic Metadata - **Title identification** — Plex matches your files against TheTVDB, TheMovieDB, and other databases - **Poster artwork** — Downloads cover art, background images, and thumbnails - **Descriptions and ratings** — Plot summaries, cast information, reviews, and ratings - **Episode organization** — Automatically sorts by season and episode number ### Transcoding (If Needed) If a file format isn't directly playable on your device, Plex transcodes it on the fly. This requires a Plex server with enough processing power. Direct play (no transcoding) is always preferred and works with most modern formats. ### Multi-User Support Plex supports multiple users with separate watch histories and recommendations. Your family members each get their own experience, all streaming from the same Seedr storage. ### Offline Sync Plex Pass users can sync content to mobile devices for offline viewing. The content comes from your Seedr storage, transcoded to the quality you choose. ## Why Seedr + Plex (Instead of Local Storage) Feature Local Hard Drive Seedr + Plex Add files remotely No — must be at home Yes — from any device, anywhere Storage limits Physical drive size Scales with your plan (up to 10TB) Hardware required Always-on server + drives Just a Plex server (can be low-power) Download speed Your home internet speed Seedr's gigabit data center speed Files available while downloading No — wait for download to finish Yes — stream immediately Electricity cost 24/7 server + multiple drives Low-power Plex server only Drive failure risk Data loss without RAID/backup Seedr handles redundancy Try Seedr Free [Try Seedr Free]() 2GB storage included. Connect to Plex in minutes. ## Plex Server Requirements You still need a Plex Media Server running somewhere. This can be: - **Your computer** — Windows, Mac, or Linux. Can be your main PC if it's usually on. - **A NAS device** — Synology, QNAP, etc. Many have Plex packages available. - **A dedicated mini PC** — Intel NUC, Raspberry Pi 4 (limited transcoding), or similar. - **A cloud server** — Run Plex on a VPS if you want everything in the cloud. - **Nvidia Shield** — Popular option that doubles as a streaming device. The Plex server needs network access to your mounted Seedr storage. For direct play (most efficient), minimal CPU is needed. For transcoding, you'll want a decent processor or hardware transcoding support. ## Common Questions ### Do I need Plex Pass? No. The free version of Plex works with Seedr. Plex Pass adds features like hardware transcoding, offline sync, and multiple user profiles — nice to have but not required for the basic integration. ### Can I stream outside my home? Yes. Plex supports remote streaming. Your Plex server transcodes (if needed) and streams to you wherever you are. The content comes from Seedr through your Plex server. ### How fast does new content appear? Depends on your Plex scan settings. You can set Plex to scan periodically (every hour, for example) or trigger a manual scan after adding new files. Some setups support automatic detection of new files. ### What if a file won't play? Plex transcodes incompatible formats automatically. If something won't play, it's usually a server processing limitation. Most common formats (MP4, MKV with H.264/H.265) play directly without transcoding. ### Is the connection secure? Yes. Both WebDAV and FTP connections to Seedr are encrypted. Your credentials are protected, and file transfers are secure. ### Can I use this with Jellyfin instead? Yes! Jellyfin uses the same connection methods. We have a separate guide for [Jellyfin + Seedr integration](). ### What Seedr plan do I need? WebDAV requires a Master plan. FTP is available on Pro plans and above. Free plans can use Seedr's built-in streaming but not the Plex integration. ## Also Works With The same connection methods work with other media server software: - **Jellyfin** — Open-source Plex alternative. [Setup guide →]() - **Emby** — Another media server option with similar features. - **VLC** — Open network stream from your Seedr WebDAV/FTP location. - **Infuse** — Popular iOS/tvOS player that supports network locations. Gold scales to 10TB and 100 tasks. Always-on, API access, Plex integration. ## Quick Comparison Plan Storage Tasks Streaming Price Pro 200GB 8 1080p $12.95/mo Master 1TB 25 4K $19.95/mo Gold One 2TB 35 4K $32.95/mo Gold Two 3TB 50 4K $44.95/mo Gold Three 5TB 70 4K $59.95/mo Gold Four 10TB 100 4K $119.95/mo All plans include API access. Basic+ adds FTP. Master+ adds WebDAV mounting and priority queue. Gold adds uncapped speeds and dedicated support (Gold 3-4). ## Who Needs What ### Master ($19.95/mo) — The Sweet Spot 1TB storage handles most media libraries. 25 concurrent tasks means you can add an entire season at once without queuing. WebDAV lets you mount Seedr as a drive for Plex or direct file access. 4K streaming if your content supports it. For most power users, Master is the right choice. ### Gold One/Two ($33-45/mo) — Growing Libraries When 1TB isn't enough. 2-3TB for users who keep content long-term rather than watch-and-delete. 35-50 concurrent tasks for heavy automation setups running ,, and simultaneously. Uncapped processing speeds. ### Gold Three/Four ($60-120/mo) — Serious Infrastructure 5-10TB for extensive archives and large media collections. 70-100 concurrent tasks for complex automation pipelines. Dedicated support for troubleshooting integrations. These tiers replace what would otherwise be a physical NAS or dedicated server — no hardware costs, no electricity bills, no maintenance, and accessible from anywhere. Gold Four at 10TB and 100 tasks is effectively a cloud media server. Connect Plex, automate with automation tools, and serve your entire household from Seedr's infrastructure instead of running your own hardware. ## Always Running Seedr runs on our servers, not your computer. Start a download, close your browser, come back later — it's done. Files stay available for sharing without keeping hardware running at home. Availability requirements handled automatically: - **Pro:** Standard availability: up to 48 hours - **Master:** Extended availability: up to 120 hours (5 days) - **Gold:** Maximum availability: up to 720 hours (30 days) Your electricity bill stays the same. Our data center handles the uptime. ## Task Slots Task slots = how many files Seedr processes at once. More slots, faster queue clearing. - **8 slots (Pro):** Good for regular use - **25 slots (Master):** Batch processing, multiple sources - **50-100 slots (Gold):** Heavy automation, large queues Extra tasks wait in line and start automatically when a slot opens. ## Access Methods ### WebDAV (Master+) Mount Seedr as a network drive. Shows up in Finder/Explorer like a local folder. Plex and Jellyfin can scan it directly — your Seedr storage becomes part of your media library without manual transfers. ### FTP/FTPS Works with FileZilla, WinSCP, Cyberduck, or any FTP client. FTPS encrypts the connection. Good for bulk transfers or scripted operations. ### REST API Add files, list contents, get streaming URLs, manage folders — all programmatically. OAuth2 authentication. Build your own integrations or use existing tools like and. [Full integration guide →]() ## Priority Queue Master and Gold accounts get processed before free and lower-tier accounts when servers are busy. Gold 3-4 get highest priority with dedicated throughput. During peak hours, this means your tasks start faster. ## 4K Streaming Master and Gold unlock 2160p streaming. Watch in browser or cast to Chromecast. No need to download — stream directly from your Seedr storage. Once connected, your Seedr files appear alongside local folders. ### Windows Open File Explorer → Right-click "This PC" → "Map network drive" → Enter your Seedr WebDAV URL. Windows will prompt for credentials. Check "Reconnect at sign-in" to mount automatically. ### macOS Finder → Go → Connect to Server (Cmd+K) → Enter WebDAV URL. The drive appears in Finder sidebar. For persistent mounting, add to Login Items in System Settings. ### Linux Use davfs2 for command-line mounting, or your file manager's "Connect to Server" option. Most desktop environments (GNOME, KDE) support WebDAV natively. ### Media Servers Plex, Jellyfin, and Emby can scan WebDAV mounts as library sources. Point your media server at the mounted drive, and it indexes your Seedr content automatically. New files appear in your library without manual imports. [Detailed WebDAV guide →]() ## API Integration The Seedr API gives programmatic control over your account. Common uses: - **Add files:** POST links or upload directly - **List contents:** GET folder structure and file metadata - **Generate links:** Create streaming URLs or direct download links - **Manage storage:** Delete files, create folders, move items - **Check status:** Monitor active downloads and queue Authentication uses OAuth2. You can create access tokens from your account settings. The API works with any language that can make HTTP requests — Python, JavaScript, PHP, shell scripts. ### / Integration These tools automate media library management. Configure Seedr as a download client in / settings using your API credentials. When new content matches your criteria, it gets added to Seedr automatically. Combined with WebDAV mounting, files appear in your Plex library without manual steps. [API documentation →]() ## Common Questions ### What's the difference between Master and Gold? Master: 1TB, 25 tasks, priority queue, WebDAV, 4K. Gold: More storage (2-10TB), more tasks (35-100), uncapped speeds, dedicated support on higher tiers. If 1TB covers your needs, Master is the best value. ### Can I upgrade later? Yes. Upgrade anytime and pay the prorated difference. Your files and settings carry over. ### Is there a contract? Monthly plans cancel anytime. Yearly plans save about 2 months but commit for the year. Both include 7-day money-back guarantee. ### How does this compare to running my own server? No setup, no maintenance, no electricity costs, no hardware failures to deal with. We handle the infrastructure. You just use it. ### What happens if I exceed my storage? You can't add new files until you free up space. Existing files remain accessible. You can delete files, move them to external storage via FTP/WebDAV, or upgrade your plan. ### Are there bandwidth limits? No download bandwidth limits on any plan. Gold plans additionally have uncapped upload/processing speeds. Master and below share server resources during peak times (priority queue helps here). ### Can I access my files from multiple devices? Yes. Log in from any device and your files are there. Stream, download, or manage your library from phone, laptop, or TV. WebDAV (Master+) lets you mount Seedr as a network drive for direct file access. ### What payment methods do you accept? Credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), PayPal, and. All payments processed securely through Stripe or PayPal. ### Is my data backed up? Seedr uses redundant storage across multiple data centers. Hardware failures don't cause data loss. However, Seedr is not a backup service — if you delete a file, it's gone. Keep important files backed up elsewhere. ### Where are the servers located? Primary servers in Europe with CDN distribution globally. Streaming and downloads are optimized for your location automatically. Seedr's servers fetch it to your cloud 24/7 on gigabit connections. No computer needed. Stream or save when you're ready. ## Your Fetches Don't Need You Traditional transfers require your computer to be on, connected, and running until the transfer finishes. That's fine for small files. But what about large files that take hours? You either leave your computer running all day, or you wait until you're home to start. Seedr changes this completely. Our servers fetch files on your behalf, 24/7. Start a fetch from your phone while you're at work. On our 10Gbit servers, many fetches finish near-instantly — larger files within minutes. When you get home, it's ready — stream it immediately or save it to your device at your leisure. Think of it as a remote fetch assistant that never sleeps, never loses connection, and works much faster than your home internet ever could. ## How Remote Fetching Works 1. **Add a link from anywhere** — Use your phone, tablet, work computer, or any device with a browser. Paste a link into Seedr, or use the Share menu on mobile. 2. **Seedr's servers do the work** — Our data center handles the fetch using high-speed connections. Your device can go offline — it doesn't matter. 3. **File waits in your cloud storage** — Once fetched, the file sits in your Seedr storage. Ready when you are. 4. **Access whenever you want** — Stream it. Save it to your device. Cast it to your TV. Connect via WebDAV or FTP. Your choice. Your home computer never needs to be involved. Your phone battery isn't drained. Your mobile data isn't consumed. The fetch happens in the cloud. ## Real-World Scenarios ### At Work Find something you want to watch tonight. Paste the link into Seedr from your work computer (or phone). By the time you're home, it's fetched and ready. No need to leave your home PC running. ### Slow Home Internet Your home connection runs at 10 Mbps. Seedr fetches at gigabit speeds. A 20GB file that would take 4+ hours at home? Seedr grabs it in minutes. Then you save from Seedr at your connection's pace — or just stream it. ### Traveling Queue up content before your flight while you're still on WiFi. Fetches happen while you're in the air. When you land, everything's ready to stream or save for offline viewing. ### Limited Data Plan On mobile data with a cap? Add files to Seedr — zero data used for the actual fetch. Later, when you're on WiFi, stream or save from Seedr to your device. ### Unreliable Connection Connection drops frequently? Doesn't matter. Seedr's servers have stable, redundant connections. Your fetch continues regardless of what your local network does. ### Overnight Fetches Start large fetches before bed. Wake up to completed files — without leaving your computer running all night, using electricity, and generating fan noise. ## Fetch Speed Comparison File Size Home Internet (25 Mbps) Seedr (Gigabit) 1 GB ~5 minutes ~8 seconds 5 GB ~27 minutes ~40 seconds 10 GB ~53 minutes ~80 seconds 25 GB ~2.2 hours ~3.5 minutes 50 GB ~4.4 hours ~7 minutes Times are theoretical maximums. Actual speeds depend on source availability and network conditions. Seedr typically achieves near-theoretical speeds due to our peering arrangements and server infrastructure. ## Ways to Add a Fetch ### Browser (Any Device) Visit seedr.cc, paste a link into the input field. One click and it starts fetching on our servers. Works on any browser, any device. ### Mobile Share Menu (iOS & Android) Find a link in any app — browser, Reddit, Twitter, email. Tap Share → Seedr. That's it. Two taps from anywhere on your phone. ### Chrome Extension Right-click any link on any webpage, select "Send to Seedr." No copy-paste needed. The extension also adds a toolbar button for quick access to your dashboard. ### API Integration Developers can integrate Seedr into their own tools using our REST API. Automate fetches with scripts, build custom workflows. ### Media Automation Connect media automation tools. They monitor RSS feeds and send items to Seedr automatically when new content matches your criteria. Available on Basic+ plans. ## Traditional Transfers vs. Seedr Factor Traditional Transfer Seedr Remote Fetch Computer must be on Yes — entire duration No — servers handle it Transfer speed Your internet speed Gigabit data center speed Start from any device Only from the active device Phone, tablet, any browser Connection interruptions May corrupt or restart transfer Servers have stable connections Electricity usage Full PC running for hours None (servers are always on) Access from multiple devices Transfer files manually Cloud storage — access anywhere Stream before complete Usually no Yes — as soon as partial data available Try Seedr Now [Try Seedr Now]() 2GB included. There's no automatic expiration. You can delete files anytime to free up space for new fetches. ### Is there a file size limit? Only your available storage quota. Single files can be as large as your remaining space allows. No arbitrary per-file limits. ### Can I queue multiple fetches? Yes. Add as many as you want. They process in parallel (limits depend on your plan). Check progress from any device. ### What types of links work? Direct file URLs (HTTP/HTTPS) and supported media links. If you can paste it, Seedr will try to fetch it. ### Can I schedule fetches? With media automation integrations, new items are fetched automatically when they appear. For one-time fetches, just add them when you find them — they'll complete regardless of your schedule. ### What if a fetch fails? You're notified. Common causes: source offline, link expired, or file removed. You can retry or add a different link. ### How do I know when it's done? Push notifications on mobile via v2 (if enabled), email notifications (optional), or just check your dashboard. Many fetches complete near-instantly; larger files within minutes. ### Is it secure? Yes. Your connection to Seedr is always encrypted (HTTPS). Your IP never connects to the original source — only to Seedr. See our [security page]() for details. Download and access worry-free. ## Your Downloads, Your Business ## We download files so your IP doesn't have to When you download a file directly, your IP address connects to the source server or peer network. That connection is logged, visible to your ISP, and potentially accessible to anyone monitoring the network. With Seedr, you never connect to the original source. Our servers fetch the file, and you retrieve it from us over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Think of it like a P.O. box for digital content. The package goes to the box, you pick it up from the box. The sender doesn't know your home address. This separation between source and destination is the foundation of cloud downloading. It's practical for privacy, but also for performance — our data center connections are faster than home internet, our servers run 24/7, and downloads continue even when you close your browser. ## How Cloud Downloading Works ### The Data Flow Understanding exactly how your data moves helps you make informed decisions about privacy: 1. **You paste a link** — Link or direct download URL. This happens over HTTPS between your browser and Seedr. 2. **Seedr fetches the file** — Our servers connect to the source (peer network, file host, etc.). Your device is not involved in this step. 3. **File lands in your locker** — Stored on our encrypted infrastructure. Available until you delete it. 4. **You access your files** — Stream directly in browser, download to device, or connect via WebDAV/FTP. All connections use HTTPS/TLS encryption. At no point does your IP address connect to the original file source. The connection chain is: **Source → Seedr Servers → You (encrypted)**. ### What Your ISP Sees Without Seedr: Your ISP sees connections to file sources and peer IP addresses. They see the full picture of what you're downloading. With Seedr: Your ISP sees encrypted HTTPS traffic to seedr.cc. That's it. The content of that traffic (what you're downloading, watching, or streaming) is encrypted and invisible to them. ## Secure Access Methods ### Browser Access (Default) The standard way to use Seedr. All browser connections use HTTPS with TLS 1.2/1.3 encryption. Works on any device with a modern browser — no software to install, no ports to open. ### WebDAV Access Mount your Seedr files as a network drive on Windows, macOS, or Linux. Useful for media players that support network locations. The connection is encrypted and uses your Seedr credentials for authentication. WebDAV works with Plex, Jellyfin, VLC, and most file managers. See our guides: [Plex via WebDAV]() | [Jellyfin via WebDAV]() ### FTP/FTPS Access Traditional file transfer protocol with optional TLS encryption (FTPS). Supported by every FTP client including FileZilla, Cyberduck, and WinSCP. Useful for bulk transfers or integration with external tools. Learn more: [Seedr over FTP with FileZilla]() | [Plex via FTP]() ### API Access Developers can integrate Seedr into their own applications using our REST API. OAuth2 authentication ensures your credentials are never exposed to third-party apps. ## What We Store (and Don't) ### Your Files - **Stored encrypted** — 256-bit AES encryption at rest - **Private to you** — No one at Seedr browses user files. No content sharing between accounts. - **Not analyzed** — We don't scan content for advertising, analytics, or any other purpose beyond antivirus (paid plans) - **Deletable** — When you delete a file, it's gone. We don't keep shadow copies. ### Your Account Data - **Email** — For login and account recovery - **Password** — Stored as a salted hash (bcrypt). We can't read your password. - **Payment info** — Processed by Stripe or PayPal. We receive a token, not your card numbers. - **IP addresses** — Logged temporarily for security (abuse prevention, brute-force protection) ### What We Don't Store - **Browsing history** — We don't track what you view or stream - **Content metadata** — We don't catalog or categorize your files - **Third-party tracking** — No analytics pixels, no advertising cookies in the app - **Behavioral data** — We're not building a profile of you Our business model is subscriptions. We make money when you pay for more storage, not when we sell your data. This alignment of incentives is intentional. ## Account Security Features ### Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) Add a second layer of protection beyond your password. Seedr supports TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password) — the same standard used by Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, and Bitwarden. Even if someone obtains your password, they can't access your account without the 2FA code from your authenticator app. Enable 2FA in Settings → Security. Takes 30 seconds. Strongly recommended for all accounts. ### Session Management See every device logged into your account with timestamp and location. Notice something unfamiliar? Revoke that session instantly. You can also log out all sessions at once if you suspect compromise. Each session shows: Device type, browser, IP location, last activity time. ### Login Notifications Get an email when someone logs into your account from a new device or location. Useful for detecting unauthorized access early. ### Automatic Session Expiry Sessions expire after extended inactivity. This protects you if you forget to log out on a shared or public computer. ### Password Requirements Minimum 8 characters. We don't enforce arbitrary complexity rules (no mandatory symbols, etc.) because [security research shows they don't help](). Use a passphrase or password manager for best results. ## Transfer & Storage Security ### Encryption in Transit - **TLS 1.2/1.3** — All connections to Seedr use modern TLS. Older protocols (TLS 1.0, 1.1, SSL) are disabled. - **HTTPS everywhere** — No unencrypted HTTP connections accepted. Even API calls require HTTPS. - **Certificate pinning** — Our mobile apps pin certificates to prevent man-in-the-middle attacks - **Perfect forward secrecy** — Even if our keys were compromised, past sessions can't be decrypted ### Encryption at Rest - **256-bit AES** — Industry-standard encryption for stored files - **Encrypted backups** — Backup copies are also encrypted - **Secure deletion** — Files are securely wiped when deleted, not just marked as deleted ### Web Application Security - **Content Security Policy (CSP)** — Prevents XSS attacks by controlling what scripts can execute - **X-Frame-Options** — Prevents clickjacking by blocking embedding in iframes - **HSTS** — Forces browsers to only connect via HTTPS - **SameSite cookies** — Prevents CSRF attacks ## Premium Security Features Paid plans include additional security capabilities: ### Antivirus Scanning (Basic+ and above) Every file you download is automatically scanned for malware before you access it. We use multiple antivirus engines for comprehensive detection. If a threat is found, you're notified immediately. This protects you from accidentally downloading infected files — especially important when grabbing content from untrusted sources. ### Seedr Ultra© Servers (Pro and above) Paid users get access to dedicated server infrastructure separate from free accounts. This means faster speeds, better reliability, and isolation from the load spikes that can affect shared infrastructure. ### Private Network Support (Master plan) Connect to invite-only private networks. Configure your passkeys and credentials securely within Seedr. The Master plan supports multiple private networks simultaneously. Get Started [Get Started]() 256-bit AES encryption. 2FA available. ## Infrastructure ### Data Centers Seedr runs on enterprise-grade infrastructure across multiple geographic locations. Redundant systems ensure your files remain accessible even if hardware fails. We partner with established hosting providers who maintain SOC 2 compliance and physical security controls. ### Uptime & Reliability We maintain 99.9%+ uptime. System status is publicly available at our status page. When issues occur, we communicate transparently about what happened and what we're doing to prevent recurrence. ### Security Practices - **Regular updates** — Operating systems and software are patched promptly - **Intrusion detection** — Automated monitoring for suspicious activity - **DDoS protection** — Traffic filtering prevents denial-of-service attacks - **Access controls** — Only essential personnel have access to production systems - **Audit logging** — Administrative actions are logged for accountability ### Track Record Seedr has operated since 2014. Millions of users have trusted us with billions of files over the years. We've grown from a small project to a serious service, and our security practices have matured accordingly. No major security breaches. No data leaks. Our reputation is our most valuable asset. ## Common Questions ### Can Seedr see what I download? We can see filenames and sizes — this is necessary for the service to function (we need to show you your files, after all). We don't actively monitor, analyze, or categorize content. We don't watch what you stream. We're infrastructure, not surveillance. ### Do you keep logs? Minimal operational logs for debugging and abuse prevention (e.g., detecting automated abuse, investigating errors). We don't log streaming activity, viewing history, or build user profiles. Logs are retained briefly and automatically purged. ### What if someone asks for my data? We respond to valid legal requests as required by law. We'll notify you unless legally prohibited from doing so. Important: we don't have much to give. We don't log streaming activity, we don't track what you watch, and files you've deleted are gone. Our minimal data retention is a feature, not a limitation. ### Is Seedr private? Seedr protects your privacy by separating your IP from original file sources — our servers do the downloading, not your device. Your account requires email and password authentication, and two-factor authentication is available on all plans. We don't log or profile your file access beyond what's needed to run the service. ### Is Seedr safe for work/university networks? Yes. Since all traffic is standard HTTPS to seedr.cc, it looks like any other web traffic. Network administrators see you connecting to seedr.cc but can't see what you're downloading or streaming. Many users on restrictive networks use Seedr because it works over standard web protocols that are universally allowed. ### What happens if Seedr is hacked? We take extensive precautions to prevent this, but we also design for breach scenarios. Passwords are hashed (bcrypt) and can't be recovered even if our database is stolen. Payment data is held by Stripe/PayPal, not us. Files are encrypted at rest. 2FA adds protection even if passwords are compromised. We'd notify users immediately of any breach. ### Do you work with law enforcement? We comply with valid legal requests from appropriate jurisdictions. We're a legitimate business, not a haven for illegal activity. That said, we collect minimal data, so we have minimal data to provide. ### Can I delete my account completely? Yes. Account deletion removes your files, personal data, and account information. This is a real deletion, not just a deactivation. Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered. ## Who Uses Seedr ### Privacy-Conscious Users People who prefer to keep their IP address separate from file sources. Whether for general privacy principles or specific concerns, Seedr provides that separation without requiring a VPN or complex configuration. ### Travelers and Remote Workers Hotel and coffee shop WiFi is notoriously insecure. Rather than downloading files over potentially compromised networks, let Seedr fetch them — then retrieve securely over HTTPS from anywhere. ### University and Office Networks Campus networks often restrict certain protocols and ports. Seedr works over standard HTTPS on port 443 — the same as any website. Our servers handle the downloads, and you access your files like any other web service. ### Mobile Users Downloading large files on mobile is impractical — it drains battery, uses cellular data, and can take hours. Seedr handles the heavy lifting on our servers. You just stream or download the finished files when convenient. ### People with Slow Connections Our data center connections are faster than most home internet. Even if your home connection is slow, Seedr can download at full speed. Then you can download from Seedr at your connection's pace, or stream directly without waiting for the full download. ### Media Server Enthusiasts Plex and Jellyfin users integrate Seedr as a source via WebDAV or FTP. Works in any browser. ## Cloud Downloads Without the Complexity You've probably heard about cloud downloading — let a server handle downloads instead of your computer. Faster speeds, access from anywhere, no need to leave your PC on overnight. Sounds great. But then you look into actually doing it. Set up a VPS. Learn Linux commands. Configure software. Open ports. Manage security updates. Debug when things break. Suddenly a simple concept becomes a part-time job. Seedr removes all of that. We handle the servers, the software, the configuration, the security, the maintenance. You get one thing: a box where you paste a link, and the file appears in your cloud storage. That's it. No command line. No config files. No technical knowledge whatsoever. ## How It Actually Works 1. **Sign up** — Email and password. Takes 30 seconds. No credit card for free tier. 2. **Paste a link** — Link, direct download URL, whatever you have. Drop it into the input box. 3. **Wait a few seconds** — Our servers download the file at gigabit speeds. 4. **Done** — Stream it, download it to your device, or leave it in cloud storage. That's the entire process. No step 5. No configuration. No "first, SSH into your server and run these commands." Just paste and done. ## What You Don't Have to Deal With ### No Server Management Seedr runs on our infrastructure. You don't rent a VPS. You don't manage a server. You don't worry about uptime, disk space, or CPU usage. We handle all of that. Your only interaction is through a simple web interface. ### No Software Installation Nothing to install on your computer. No download clients to configure. No plugins to update. Seedr runs entirely in your web browser. Works on any device with a modern browser — Windows, Mac, Linux, phones, tablets. ### No Command Line Never touched a terminal? No problem. Seedr is 100% graphical interface. Point, click, paste. If you can use a web browser, you can use Seedr. ### No Configuration Files No editing.conf files. No YAML. No JSON. No syntax errors that break everything. Seedr's settings are simple toggles and dropdowns. Change what you want, ignore the rest. ### No router configuration Don't know what a port is? Good news: you don't need to. Seedr works through standard web traffic. No router configuration, no firewall rules, no opening ports. ### No Security Maintenance No security patches to apply. No vulnerabilities to worry about. No keeping software up to date. Our security team handles everything. Your account is protected by encryption, and your files are private to you. ### No Troubleshooting When something breaks on a self-managed server, you're on your own. With Seedr, if something doesn't work, contact support. We fix it. It takes time. If you'd rather spend that time watching content instead of configuring software, Seedr is for you. ### Non-Technical Users You shouldn't need to learn Linux to download a file. Seedr brings cloud downloading to everyone, regardless of technical background. ### People Who Tried DIY and Got Frustrated Set up your own server once, spent hours debugging, decided it wasn't worth it? We get it. Seedr exists because managing servers is a pain. ### Mobile-First Users Managing a server from your phone is miserable. Seedr's interface is designed for mobile. Add downloads, manage files, stream video — all from your phone without compromises. ### People Who Want It to Just Work No interest in how the sausage is made. You want to paste a link and get a file. That's what Seedr does. ## Common Questions ### Is it really that simple? Yes. Sign up, paste a link, wait a few seconds, done. Try the free tier — you'll see how fast you can go from signup to watching a video. ### What if I want more control later? Advanced features are available when you want them. API access, WebDAV mounts, FTP — all optional. Start simple, add complexity only if you need it. ### Is it slower than running my own server? Usually faster. We have data center connections with high bandwidth and good peering. Most home internet connections and budget VPS instances can't match our download speeds. ### What's the catch? No catch. Free tier has 2GB storage and limited features. Paid plans offer more storage, higher quality streaming, and advanced access methods. We make money from subscriptions, not from selling your data or showing ads. ### Can I still use Plex/Jellyfin? Yes. Connect Seedr as a library source via WebDAV or FTP. You get the media server experience without managing the download infrastructure yourself. [Plex guide →]() ### What if Seedr doesn't have a feature I need? No downloading required—just hit play and enjoy secure, uninterrupted playback. ## Watch Files Without Downloading Them When you add a file to Seedr, you don't have to wait for it to download to your device before watching. Our built-in player streams content directly from our servers using HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) — the same technology Netflix and YouTube use. Click play, and video starts within seconds. This approach saves you time, storage space, and bandwidth. A 10GB movie? Stream it without using 10GB of your phone's storage. Watch the first few minutes to decide if you like it before committing to a full download. Scrub through a long video to find the part you need. The player only fetches the segments you actually watch. And because the video streams from Seedr's servers rather than your device doing the work, you get consistent quality regardless of the file format. We handle the transcoding and optimization behind the scenes. Instant Playback All Formats Cast to TV ## Video Player Our video player is built for real-world use. It handles the formats people actually have, not just the ideal cases. You don't need to worry about codecs or containers — if Seedr can store it, Seedr can play it. ### Format Support - **Container formats:** MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, WebM, FLV, WMV, M4V, MPEG, 3GP, OGV, and more. MKV files with embedded subtitles work fully. Multi-audio track switching available on v2. - **Video codecs:** H.264 (AVC), H.265 (HEVC), VP8, VP9, AV1 (where browser supports it), MPEG-4, MPEG-2, WMV. Most common encodings just work. Exotic codecs get transcoded automatically. - **Audio codecs:** AAC, MP3, AC3, DTS (converted for browser playback), FLAC, Opus, Vorbis. Multi-channel audio preserved where possible. - **Subtitles:** External SRT and VTT files, embedded subtitles in MKV containers. Subtitle sync adjustment lets you offset timing if audio and subs don't match up (+/- seconds in fine increments). ### Player Features The player does everything you'd expect from a modern video player, plus some features you might not expect from browser-based streaming: - **Adaptive bitrate streaming:** Quality adjusts automatically based on your connection speed. Start watching immediately at low quality while higher quality loads, then seamlessly upgrade. If your connection degrades, the player drops quality instead of buffering. - **Manual quality selector:** Override automatic quality selection. Available options depend on your plan and whether you're on v1 or v2. - **Playback speed control:** 0.5x for detailed viewing, 1.25x or 1.5x to get through content faster, 2x if you're in a hurry. Speed changes without pitch distortion on audio. - **Picture-in-Picture (v2):** Pop the video out into a floating window that stays on top. Keep watching while browsing other tabs, reading email, or working in other apps. - **Theater mode:** Enlarges the player to fill most of your browser window without going full-screen. Great when you want a bigger picture but still need access to your browser tabs or OS taskbar. - **Fullscreen:** True fullscreen mode with no browser UI. On mobile, automatically locks to landscape orientation. - **Resume playback (v2):** Close a video partway through, and Seedr remembers your position. Come back hours or days later and pick up exactly where you left off. Works across devices — pause on your laptop, resume on your phone. - **Keyboard shortcuts:** Space to play/pause, arrow keys to seek, M to mute, F for fullscreen. Power users can control playback without touching the mouse. - **Chromecast integration:** Cast to your TV with one tap. Full remote control from your phone or computer. Details in the "Cast to Your TV" section below. ### v1 vs v2: A Major Streaming Upgrade Seedr v2 brings significant streaming improvements over v1: Free and Premium users alike can use both versions right away. ## v2 for Everyone v2 supports 2160p (4K). Quality options: 480p to 2160p depending on plan. v1 maxes at 720p. ## Up to 4K Video Switch between audio tracks in multi-audio files (different languages, commentary). ## Alternate Audio Tracks v2 starts playback immediately while conversion continues in the background. ## Play While Converting Save videos at your chosen quality for offline viewing with smart storage management. ## Offline Caching [Learn more about v2 features →]() ### Quality by Plan Maximum streaming quality depends on your subscription: - **Free:** Up to 480p. - **Premium plans:** Higher resolutions on v2 — up to 1080p, 1440p, or 2160p depending on your plan tier. If the source file is lower quality than your plan allows, you'll get the source quality. We don't upscale. ### How Video Conversion Works Not all video formats can stream directly in browsers. When you add a file that needs conversion, Seedr processes it in the background. You'll see conversion progress in the interface. Conversion time depends on file size and complexity, but most videos are ready within minutes. Once converted, streaming is instant. Common formats like MP4 with H.264 often stream immediately without conversion. MKV and other container formats may need processing. The system handles this automatically — you don't need to understand the technical details. ## Audio Player Seedr handles audio files too. Play your music collection from the cloud without syncing files between devices or managing local storage. MP3, AAC, FLAC, WAV, OGG, M4A, ALAC, AIFF — most formats that FFmpeg recognizes work seamlessly. ## All Audio Formats Songs play one after another. Queue up a folder and let it play through. Continuous Playback Add, remove, and reorder tracks in your current queue. Queue Management Album art, track title, artist, album — displayed when available. Metadata Display Cast audio to Chromecast-enabled speakers or your TV. Chromecast Support The audio player shares controls with the video player when casting — a single cast session means you can switch between audio and video content without reconnecting. ## Document Viewers Seedr isn't just for media files. Built-in viewers handle documents, code, and more — all viewable directly in your browser without downloading. Smooth zooming, text search, navigation, and mobile-optimized viewing. ## PDF Reader Adjustable typography, day/night modes, progress sync across devices. ## EPUB Reader Syntax highlighting for 50+ languages, line numbers, minimap, diff viewer. ## Code Viewer View XLSX files with tables, formatting, and multi-sheet navigation. ## Spreadsheet Viewer Browse ZIP, RAR, 7Z contents and download individual files. ## Archive Browser JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF with zoom, pan, and gallery mode. ## Image Viewer ## Cast to Your TV Your phone or laptop is convenient for browsing and managing files. Your TV is better for actually watching. Seedr bridges the gap with native casting support and integrations with major home theater platforms. ### Chromecast (Built-in) Our video player includes native Chromecast support. When a Chromecast device is on your network, a cast button appears in the player. Tap it, select your device, and video moves to your TV in seconds. Your phone or computer becomes a remote control: - Play, pause, seek to any position - Volume control (including mute) - Quality switching — change quality without interrupting playback (options depend on plan) - Subtitle selection and sync timing adjustment - Queue management — line up what to watch next State synchronizes bidirectionally. Pause on your phone, it pauses on TV. If someone adjusts volume on the TV, your phone shows the change. Connection recovery is automatic — if your phone briefly loses WiFi, it reconnects and resumes control. Try Streaming Now [Try Streaming Now]() 2GB included. Seedr v2 supports offline caching: - **Quality selection:** Choose from 480p to 2160p (plan-limited). Lower quality = smaller files. - **Play while downloading:** Start watching immediately as the video caches. - **Pin videos:** Pinned content won't be auto-cleaned. Unpinned uses LRU cleanup when space is needed. Offline viewing is available to everyone on v2. ## Playback Comparison Feature Download First Seedr Playback Time to start watching Minutes to hours Seconds Device storage used Full file size Zero (or choose quality) Preview before committing No — must download entire file Yes — watch first, download if you like it Watch on multiple devices Transfer files manually Stream from any device instantly Codec/format issues Install codecs, convert manually We handle conversion automatically Cast to TV Complex setup or cables One-tap Chromecast Start Playing Now [Start Playing Now]() No download needed. Works in your browser. ## Common Questions ### What video formats can I stream? Virtually all of them. MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, WebM, WMV, FLV, and more. Common codecs like H.264, H.265 (HEVC), VP9 play natively. Less common formats are automatically transcoded in the background. If Seedr can store it, Seedr can stream it. ### Why does my video need "conversion"? Web browsers can only play certain codecs directly. When you upload a video that browsers can't handle natively (like some MKV files with DTS audio), we convert it to a streamable format. This happens automatically in the background. Once converted, playback is instant. ### Can I stream in high quality? Yes, on Seedr v2 with a Premium plan. Free accounts stream at 480p. Premium unlocks higher resolutions on v2, including 1080p and above. The player also offers manual quality selection — useful when you want to save bandwidth or when your connection varies. ### Do subtitles work? Yes. The player handles external SRT and VTT files, plus subtitles embedded in MKV containers. If subs are out of sync with audio, use the timing adjustment control to offset them by seconds or fractions of a second. ### Can I cast to my TV? Built-in Chromecast support — tap the cast icon when a device is on your network. For more advanced setups, connect Seedr to Plex, Jellyfin, or Roku. Your Seedr library becomes a source in your existing media system. ### Why is the video buffering? Usually a connection issue. The player uses adaptive bitrate streaming, so it should adjust quality automatically. If buffering persists, try manually selecting a lower quality option. ### Can I download the original file? Yes. Streaming and downloading are both options. Stream to preview or watch casually; download when you need the original file or want it offline. The file stays in your Seedr storage either way. ### Does audio streaming work? Yes. MP3, FLAC, AAC, OGG, and most audio formats play in our audio player. Continuous playback, queue management, metadata display with album art. Cast audio to Chromecast-enabled speakers too. ### Can I read documents without downloading? Yes. Built-in viewers for PDF, EPUB (ebooks), code files (with syntax highlighting), spreadsheets, and images. Browse archives (ZIP, RAR, 7Z) and selectively download individual files from inside them. ### How much bandwidth does streaming use? Depends on quality. Lower quality uses less data; higher quality uses more. The adaptive player adjusts automatically based on your connection speed. ### Why am I stuck at 480p? Quality is limited by plan and version. Free accounts max at 480p. To unlock higher quality (720p to 4K), upgrade to a paid plan and use Seedr v2, which is available to everyone. ### My video says "converting" and won't play Some files need transcoding before streaming. This usually takes a few minutes. You can often start watching partway through conversion. If it's stuck for a long time, the file might have an unusual codec — contact support. ### Can I share a video with someone? Yes. Generate a shareable link to any file in your Seedr storage. Recipients can stream it in their browser without a Seedr account — no download required. No installation needed — just a browser. Free plan with 2GB, Lite plan $3.95/mo with 10GB. View files without downloading. ## How It Works Seedr is cloud storage that runs entirely in your browser. No app to download, no software to install, no special network configuration. Log in from any computer — library, lab, dorm, phone — and your files are there. Uses standard HTTPS on port 443, the same protocol as Google, YouTube, and every normal website. If your network lets you browse the web, it lets you use Seedr. No exceptions, no extra ports, no protocols that get blocked. ## Why This Matters on Campus University networks are managed networks. IT departments configure what traffic is allowed. Some applications work fine at home but don't work on campus wifi — different ports, different protocols, different rules. Seedr avoids all of that. It's a website. Your browser makes a normal HTTPS request to seedr.cc, same as visiting any other site. The actual downloading happens on Seedr's servers, not on your device and not on your network. Your campus network only sees you visiting a website. This means: - Works on dorm wifi with strict policies - Works on library and lab computers - Works at coffee shops, airports, hotels - Works anywhere you can open a web browser ## Pricing Plan Storage Streaming Price Free 2GB 480p $0 Lite 10GB 480p $3.95/mo Basic 50GB 720p HD $7.95/mo Free works for trying it out. Lite handles regular use. Basic adds HD streaming if you watch a lot of video. ## No Installation Required Library computers and campus labs usually don't let you install software. Seedr runs entirely in the browser: - Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge — any modern browser - No plugins, no extensions, no Java - No admin rights needed - Works on Chromebooks Open browser → go to seedr.cc → log in. That's it. ## Play Instead of Download Your phone has 64GB. You're already at 58GB with apps and photos. Your laptop has a 256GB SSD that's perpetually full. Storage is the constant struggle. With Seedr, you don't download files to watch them. Video plays directly in your browser. The file stays in the cloud — your device storage stays untouched. - Play on phone between classes - Play on your phone without filling it up - Only download files you actually need to keep locally Play what you want to watch. Delete when you're done. Your devices stay lean. ## Mobile Access Seedr works on phones and tablets through the browser. You can also add it to your home screen for quick access (PWA). - Stream on phone between classes - Add links from share sheet - Same files, phone or computer [Mobile features →]() ## Security Using shared computers or public wifi? Seedr keeps your data secure: - All connections encrypted (HTTPS) - Files encrypted at rest (256-bit AES) - 2FA available for account protection - Session management — see logged-in devices, revoke access Remember to log out on shared computers. Start using — you get 2GB free immediately No credit card required for the free plan. You can upgrade later from account settings if you need more storage. ## Managing Storage With limited storage (2GB free, 10GB Lite), you'll want to manage space efficiently: ### Delete After Watching Stream a video, then delete it when done. Files don't need to stay in Seedr once you've watched them. ### Download Important Files If you need a file permanently, download it to your computer or phone, then delete from Seedr to free space. ### Storage Cleanup Seedr shows file sizes in your dashboard. Sort by size to find large files you can remove. The storage bar shows how much space you're using. ### Cloud Sync Connect Seedr to Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive. Files can be transferred directly between cloud services without downloading to your device first. ## Common Questions ### Does it work on campus wifi? Yes. Seedr uses HTTPS on port 443 — the same as every normal website. Campus networks that restrict certain applications or protocols don't affect Seedr because it looks like any other website to the network. If you can browse the web, you can use Seedr. ### Can I use it on library computers? Yes. No installation needed. Just open browser and log in. ### What's the catch with the free plan? 2GB storage, 480p streaming quality. Enough to try it out. Upgrade to Lite ($3.95/mo) for 10GB. ### Can I cancel anytime? Yes. Monthly plans have no contract. Cancel from your account settings. ### What if I need more than 10GB? Basic plan offers 50GB for $7.95/mo with 720p HD streaming. Pro offers 200GB for $12.95/mo with 1080p. Most students find Lite or Basic sufficient. ### Is there a student discount? No specific student discount, but the Lite plan at $3.95/mo is already priced for budget-conscious users. ### Can I use Seedr on my phone? Yes. The website works on mobile browsers. You can also add it to your home screen as a PWA for quick access without installing an app. ### What happens to my files if I cancel? Files remain accessible for a grace period after cancellation. After that, the account reverts to free tier limits (2GB). Files exceeding that limit become inaccessible until you upgrade again or delete files. ### Is my activity private? Seedr doesn't share your activity with third parties. Files are stored encrypted. Your IP address isn't exposed when adding content — only Seedr's servers connect to external sources. ### Can multiple people share an account? Accounts are for individual use per terms of service. Each person should have their own account. The free tier makes this easy — everyone can sign up separately. ### Will my school see what I'm downloading? Your school sees you accessing seedr.cc — a normal HTTPS website. They don't see what files you're downloading because the download happens on Seedr's servers, not through your campus connection. Files in your account are encrypted. ### I ran out of space. What do I do? Delete files you've already watched, or download important ones to your device first, then delete from Seedr. You can also upgrade to Lite ($3.95/mo) for 10GB instead of 2GB. ### Can I pay with PayPal? Yes. We accept PayPal, credit cards, and. Do you load up your laptop with files? That eats storage. Do you bring an external drive? That's another thing to lose. Do you rely on hotel wifi to download what you need? That's painfully slow. Seedr solves this. Your files live in the cloud. Access them from any device, anywhere in the world. Hotel wifi only needs to play files — the heavy downloading already happened on our servers. ## Before You Leave Queue up content before your trip: 1. **1.** Add files to Seedr from home (fast connection) 2. **2.** Downloads complete on our 10Gbit servers in seconds 3. **3.** Files wait in your cloud storage 4. **4.** Access them from anywhere once you arrive You're not dependent on your destination's internet speed for downloading. Just streaming — which works fine on most hotel connections. ## On the Road ### Hotels Hotel wifi is usually slow for downloads but fine for streaming. Seedr's adaptive player adjusts quality to your connection. Watch in 720p on decent wifi, drop to 480p if it's congested. No buffering, no waiting. ### Airports Long layover? Watch from your phone or laptop. Add something to your queue while you wait — it'll be ready by the time you land. ### Planes No wifi? Use offline caching (v2). Access cloud files in Windows Explorer, Mac Finder, or Linux. Works with Plex, Jellyfin, VLC, and any application. ## Your Cloud Files, Locally Accessible Seedr's web interface is great for managing files and streaming video. But sometimes you need direct file access — playing files in VLC, browsing in your file manager, or using files with applications that don't understand cloud storage. WebDAV solves this. It's a standard protocol that makes remote storage appear as a local network drive. Connect your Seedr storage via WebDAV, and it shows up in Windows Explorer, Mac Finder, or Linux file managers just like any other drive. Open files with any application. Drag and drop between your local drives and Seedr. It just works. This is especially powerful for media server software like Plex and Jellyfin. Add your Seedr WebDAV mount as a library source, and your cloud files become part of your media library — complete with automatic metadata, artwork, and organization. ## What Is WebDAV? WebDAV (Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning) is a file access protocol built on HTTP. It's been around since 1996 and is supported by every major operating system natively. No additional software required. Think of it like a bridge between cloud storage and your local computer. Your operating system sees a network drive. Behind the scenes, WebDAV translates file operations into web requests. The result: seamless access to remote files as if they were local. ### Why WebDAV (vs. Other Protocols) - **Native OS support** — Windows, macOS, and Linux support WebDAV without installing anything. - **Works through firewalls** — Uses HTTP/HTTPS, which is allowed on virtually every network. - **Encrypted** — HTTPS connections are encrypted end-to-end. - **No special ports** — Uses standard web ports (443 for HTTPS). - **Wide application support** — Any app that can open files from a network drive works with WebDAV. ## Setting Up WebDAV ### Windows 1. Open File Explorer 2. Right-click "This PC" → "Add a network location" or "Map network drive" 3. Enter your Seedr WebDAV URL (provided in your account settings) 4. Enter your Seedr username and password 5. Done — Seedr appears as a network drive Windows tip: For best performance, use a WebDAV client like NetDrive or Mountain Duck instead of the built-in Windows WebDAV. The native client works but can be slow with large files. ### macOS 1. In Finder, press Cmd+K (or Go → Connect to Server) 2. Enter your Seedr WebDAV URL 3. Enter credentials when prompted 4. Seedr mounts in Finder and appears in the sidebar macOS handles WebDAV natively and performs well. For persistent mounts that reconnect after reboot, add the connection to your Login Items. ### Linux Multiple options depending on your distribution and preferences: - **GNOME Files (Nautilus):** Press Ctrl+L, enter `davs://your-webdav-url` - **KDE Dolphin:** Enter the WebDAV URL in the address bar - **Command line (davfs2):** `sudo mount -t davfs https://webdav-url /mnt/seedr` - **Persistent mount:** Add to `/etc/fstab` with davfs2 ### Mobile Devices iOS and Android don't have native WebDAV support, but many apps do: - **iOS:** Files app with WebDAV-enabled file managers, Infuse, VLC, nPlayer - **Android:** Solid Explorer, X-plore File Manager, VLC ## Use Cases ### Media Server Integration The most popular use case. Mount Seedr via WebDAV and add it as a library source in: - **Plex** — Your Seedr files get automatic metadata, poster art, and are served to any Plex client. [Setup guide →]() - **Jellyfin** — Open-source alternative with the same integration. [Setup guide →]() - **Emby** — Another media server option that supports network locations. ### Direct Playback in Media Players Open files directly from the mounted drive: - **VLC** — Navigate to the mounted drive and open any video - **Infuse (Apple TV/iOS)** — Add Seedr as a share and browse your library - **MPV, MPC-HC, PotPlayer** — Any player that can open files ### File Management Use your preferred file manager instead of a web browser: - Drag and drop files between local storage and Seedr - Rename, move, and organize with familiar tools - Use command-line tools for batch operations - Integrate with backup software ### Application Access Any application that can open files can now access your Seedr storage: - Photo viewers for image libraries - Document editors for cloud-stored files - Development tools for project files - Any software that uses File → Open ## WebDAV vs. FTP Seedr also offers FTP access. Here's how they compare: Feature FTP WebDAV Native OS support Varies (often needs client) Built into all major OS Works through firewalls May have issues with strict firewalls Uses HTTPS — always works Mount as drive Requires additional software Native mount support Bulk transfers Often faster for many small files Better for streaming large files Resume interrupted transfers Supported Supported Required plan Pro and above Master plan **Bottom line:** WebDAV is more convenient for everyday use and media server integration. FTP is great for bulk transfers and when you prefer dedicated FTP clients. [See our FTP setup guide with FileZilla →]() Try Seedr Free [Try Seedr Free]() WebDAV available on Master plan. ## Performance Tips ### Streaming Video For smooth video playback, your internet connection needs to be fast enough to stream the file. A 1080p video at typical bitrates needs roughly 10-20 Mbps. 4K needs 40+ Mbps. If playback stutters, the file may need to buffer — or use Seedr's built-in player which handles adaptive bitrate streaming. ### Large File Transfers WebDAV works well for transferring individual large files. For many small files, consider using FTP or the web interface's bulk download feature. ### Caching Your OS may cache file listings and metadata. If you add files via the web interface, the mounted drive might take a moment to reflect changes. Refresh the folder view if needed. ### Persistent Connections For always-available access, configure your mount to reconnect automatically after reboot. The exact method varies by OS (Login Items on Mac, Task Scheduler on Windows, /etc/fstab on Linux). WebDAV Access ## Common Questions ### What Seedr plan do I need for WebDAV? WebDAV requires a Master plan. Pro plans have FTP access but not WebDAV. Free and Basic plans use the web interface and built-in streaming. ### Is the connection secure? Yes. WebDAV connections use HTTPS, which encrypts all data in transit. Your credentials and files are protected. ### Can I write files to Seedr via WebDAV? Yes. WebDAV supports both read and write operations. Upload files by dragging them to the mounted drive, or save directly from applications. ### Why is Windows WebDAV slow? Windows' built-in WebDAV client has known performance issues with large files. Use a third-party WebDAV client like NetDrive, Mountain Duck, or Cyberduck for better performance. ### Does it work with Plex? Yes. Mount Seedr via WebDAV, then add the mount point as a library location in Plex. Plex scans your Seedr files and serves them like any local media. [See our Plex integration guide →]() ### Can I use WebDAV on multiple computers? Yes. Connect from as many devices as you want. They all access the same Seedr storage. ### What's the WebDAV URL? You'll find your personal WebDAV URL in your Seedr account settings under "WebDAV Access" (Master plan required). ### Is there a bandwidth limit? No artificial limits. Transfer as much as your internet connection allows. WebDAV performance depends on your local network speed and Seedr's server capacity (which is substantial). Your first 10 minutes with Seedr. ## What this tutorial covers This is the first-ten-minutes tour of Seedr. You will create an account, add your first link, watch the file land in your cloud, play it in the browser viewer, and save a copy to your device. By the end, you will know the core loop — which is 90 percent of what most people ever do. ## Prerequisites - A web browser — any modern one (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge). - An email address. - A link to something you want to save. Any share link, file link, or direct download URL works. If you do not have one handy, grab a free-to-redistribute sample (a Linux ISO is the classic). No VPN needed. No desktop app. Free plan is enough to follow along. ## Walkthrough ### 1. Sign up Go to [/signup](). Fill in the form — email, password, a captcha. Click **Register With Email**. ![Filled sing in form]() Filled sing in form ![Success message, mail sign in]() Success message, mail sign in ### 2. Activate your account Check your inbox. Open the Seedr activation email and click **Activate Seedr**. The link takes you to Seedr and logs you in automatically. If the email is slow, look in the spam folder. Activation emails sometimes land there. ![Email activation]() ![Seedr site activate button]() ![New Seedr account guide]() ### 3. Meet the dashboard Once in, you will see the main file view. The important pieces: - **Top-left** — account status and upgrade link. - **Top bar** — a link-paste field. This is where almost everything starts. - **Middle** — your files and folders. - **Right side** — search field. There is usually a starter file already there so the screen is not empty. ### 4. Add your first link Copy any share link, file link, or direct download URL. Paste it in the field at the top of the dashboard. Press **Enter** or click the **+** button. If it worked, you will see **Save added to home folder** as a toast at the top. The file appears in your **Tasks** view and starts transferring. If you see a warning that you do not have enough storage, either delete something or upgrade your account. ### 5. Watch it arrive The transfer runs on Seedr's servers, not your machine. You can close the tab and come back — it will still finish. Progress shows in the Tasks row. When the row flips to complete, the file is in your cloud and ready to use. ### 6. Open the file in the viewer Click the file. If it is a video, audio file, PDF, or image, Seedr opens the built-in viewer. You can play, pause, seek, and for video, change quality and playback speed. See the media player features reference for the full control list. For a folder, click to go inside. Click any file inside to open it. ### 7. Save a copy to your device Sometimes the cloud is enough — you stream in the browser and never download. Other times you want a local copy. Two ways: - **Hover and click the save icon.** Quickest for a single file. Pick where on your device to save it. - **Right-click → Save.** Works on single files or folders. For multiple files or a folder, Seedr bundles them into a zip and saves that. ### 8. Pick multiple files Click one file, then Shift-click another, to select a range. Or Ctrl-click (Cmd-click on Mac) to pick individual files. Right-click the selection for actions on all of them at once. ## Common mistakes - **Pasting a webpage URL instead of the actual file link.** Seedr needs the direct file link, not the search page that lists it. Right-click the download button and copy the link address. - **Closing the browser thinking you need to wait.** You do not. Saves run server-side. Come back later. - **Trying to save a 40 GB file on a 2 GB free plan.** Check your storage bar first. If the file is too big, free space or upgrade before adding the link. ## Related reading - Upgrade your Seedr account once the free tier feels tight. - Organize files in Seedr — folders, search, bulk move. - What to do while Seedr saves your files — the cloud-first workflow. ## Wrap Sign up, paste a link, click the file, enjoy. Send any file link or page URL to your Seedr cloud in one click — no app, no downloads, no setup. The Seedr Chrome extension turns any file link you find in a browser into a one-click add to your cloud. Right-click a link, pick **Add to Seedr**, and the file starts saving to your account. No copy-pasting URLs, no separate tab. It works in Chrome, but also in every Chromium-based browser: Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi, Arc. The steps are the same everywhere with minor menu differences. ## What this gets you - Right-click any file link → added to your Seedr in one step. - A "Default Client" toggle so left-click on a file link opens Seedr by default. - A small popup showing recent additions and their status. - Works alongside your browser file transfer tool without conflicts. - Same flow on Windows, macOS, Linux, and ChromeOS. ## What you need - A Seedr account. Free is fine; the extension does not require Premium. - Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi, or Arc. Any version from the last two years. - Permission to install extensions (work laptops sometimes block this). Firefox is covered by a separate Seedr Firefox add-on; install paths differ slightly. ## Setup, step by step ### 1. Install the extension 1. Open your browser. In Chrome, click the three-dot menu (top right) → **Extensions → Visit Chrome Web Store**. In Edge, go directly to the Chrome Web Store URL — Edge supports Chrome extensions without a port. 2. Search Seedr. 3. Click the result, then **Add to Chrome** (Edge calls this **Allow extensions from other stores** the first time, then **Add**). 4. Confirm on the permissions prompt. ![3 dots]() You will see the Seedr icon appear near the address bar. If it is hidden behind the puzzle-piece menu, the next step fixes that. ### 2. Pin the extension 1. Click the puzzle-piece icon next to your address bar. 2. Find Seedr in the list. Click the thumbtack next to it so it lights up. 3. The Seedr icon now lives permanently next to the address bar. ![]() ![Open Chrome webstore]() ![]() ![]() ![Confirming]() ![Confirmation]() ### 3. Sign in and set as default 1. Click the Seedr icon. A popup appears. 2. Click **Sign in**. The standard Seedr login opens — use email, Google or Facebook. 3. Once signed in, the popup shows your account and an **Options** panel. 4. Tick **Default Client**. This makes left-click on supported links open Seedr instead of a locally-installed app. ![Puzzle iron circled]() ### 4. Add your first file Two ways. - **Right-click**: find a file link on any site. Right-click → **Add to Seedr**. A success toast appears top-right. - **Left-click**: with Default Client on, a normal click on a supported link sends it to Seedr. Your browser may ask permission the first time. Open your Seedr dashboard in another tab to watch it appear in the file list. Try Seedr free ## Try Seedr free ## Troubleshooting - **"Add to Seedr" is not in the right-click menu.** You missed the sign-in step. Click the extension icon, log in, try again. The right-click entry appears per-tab after first login. - **Clicking a file link opens a locally-installed app, not Seedr.** Your OS still has the protocol handler pointed at that app. In Windows: **Settings → Apps → Default apps → Choose by protocol → Seedr**. On macOS: adjust the default in whichever app currently owns the protocol, or use **right-click → Add to Seedr** instead. - **Login popup closes immediately.** A content-blocker extension is stripping the redirect. Disable uBlock/AdGuard for seedr.cc and retry. - **Extension shows "Not logged in" after every restart.** Your browser is clearing cookies on exit. Check **Settings → Privacy → Cookies** and add seedr.cc to "Allowed to always use cookies". - **File added but nothing appears in Seedr.** Either the source is unreachable, or Seedr is still fetching metadata. Wait a few minutes. If it still shows nothing, the source is dead. - **Works in Chrome, not in Arc.** Arc sometimes disables unused extensions to save memory. Re-enable in arc://extensions. ## What works well and what does not Works well: - File-link handling on essentially any site. - Mixing the extension with the web app: add via extension, play in Seedr's viewer. - Cross-profile use — sign in per profile, each gets its own account. Known limits: - **Only adds links**; it does not upload local files. For that, use the Seedr upload area in the browser. - **No direct download links** from the extension; generate those from the web dashboard. - **Brave with aggressive Shields** sometimes blocks the popup auth; whitelist seedr.cc. ## Wrap Install once, pin it, flip Default Client on, and every file link on the web is one click away from your cloud. ![Seedr extension pinned to top]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Start free ## Add links straight to your cloud [https://www.seedr.cc/signup]() --- # How to Organize Your Files in Seedr Canonical URL: https://www.seedr.cc/pulse/articles/67483ac72f1468b50cf50d83-organizing-files/ Updated: 2026-10-13T21:30:14.882Z Create folders, drag-and-drop, rename, search, bulk move and bulk delete files in your Seedr cloud. The practical guide to keeping a tidy cloud drive with shortcuts and examples. ## What this tutorial covers You will learn the practical tools for keeping your Seedr account tidy: making folders, moving files around, renaming, searching, and bulk actions like multi-select delete. By the end, "where is that file?" should stop being a recurring question. ## Prerequisites - A Seedr account with at least a few files in it. If your account is empty, add two or three items first — folder management makes more sense with stuff to move around. - Any modern browser. Drag-and-drop works best on a mouse-and-keyboard device; tap-based reorganising on phones works but is slower. ## Walkthrough ### 1. Create a folder Click **Create Folder** near the top of the dashboard, just below the link-paste field. Type a name and press Enter. A broad name (movies, work, invoices) is usually better than a deep category tree. ![Search in old Seedr]() ### 2. Move files with drag and drop Click and hold an item, then drag it onto a folder. Drop it. A toast at the top confirms the move. To move something out of a folder and up a level, drag it to the **Folder Up** link at the top of the file list and drop. The item jumps one level up in the hierarchy. ### 3. Move files with cut and paste Drag-and-drop is nice; right-click cut-and-paste is better for moving a file to a folder that is deep or scrolled off-screen. 1. Right-click the file to move. Click **Cut** (or **Copy** if you want to duplicate it). A toast confirms "one item added to the clipboard." 2. Navigate to the destination folder. 3. Right-click on the folder and click **Paste Into**. The file moves and a toast confirms the action. ### 4. Rename a file or folder Right-click the item. Click **Rename**. Type the new name and press Enter. Good names are the single biggest factor in whether you find a file six months later. Do the renames at upload time when you still remember what the file is. ### 5. Search The search field is at the top-right of the dashboard. It searches filenames across every folder in your account. - Partial matches work — typing "ubuntu" finds every file with ubuntu anywhere in the name. - Press Enter to run the search. Results list the path so you see which folder each match lives in. For content-inside-file search, see smart search in Seedr — that is on the roadmap. ### 6. Sort Click any column header (name, size, date modified) to sort the current folder by it. Click again to reverse the order. This is a fast way to find the biggest files in a folder when you are cleaning up. ### 7. Bulk select Click one file, then: - **Shift-click** another file to pick the range between them. - **Ctrl-click** (Cmd-click on Mac) to add or remove individual files from the selection. Right-click the selection to move, copy, or delete all at once. This turns "clean up 30 old downloads" from a 30-click job into three clicks. ### 8. Delete Three ways: - **Hover icon.** Hover a file and click the **x** that appears. Quickest for one-off deletions. - **Right-click → Delete.** Works on single items or a multi-select. - **Delete key.** Select an item (it highlights blue) and press the Delete key on your keyboard. Each deletion asks for confirmation. Press Enter or click OK to confirm. Deletes free up storage immediately. ![Creating folder in old Seedr]() ## Common mistakes - **Nesting folders too deep.** Three levels deep and you will stop opening them. Flatter is better — prefer good filenames over deep hierarchies. - **Relying on "I will rename it later."** You will not. Rename at the moment you save the file, while you still know what it is. - **Forgetting bulk select exists.** People delete 40 files one-click at a time. Shift-click or Ctrl-click first, then one right-click handles everything. ## Related reading - How to use Seedr — beginner's tutorial if you are new to the dashboard. - Upgrade your Seedr account when your storage bar is getting tight. - Smart search in Seedr to see what's coming for content-aware search. ## Wrap Folders, clear names, and bulk-select are the three habits that separate a tidy Seedr account from a dumping ground. If you don't have one, sign up at [/signup]() first — takes about a minute. - A payment method: a credit/debit card (processed via FastSpring) or a PayPal account. - A rough idea of how much storage you need and how many simultaneous saves you want. If unsure, Basic is a common starting point; FTP + SFTP is available on Basic and up. ## Walkthrough ### 1. Open the pricing page Two ways: - Go directly to [/pricing]() from the site header. - Or, from inside your Seedr dashboard, click **Upgrade Storage** in the top-left. ![]() ### 2. Compare the tiers You'll see the paid tiers alongside the free plan. Headline differences: - **Basic — 50 GB.** HD viewing, faster save-to-device speeds, 2 concurrent saves. - **Pro — 500 GB.** Includes **FTP + SFTP (Basic and up)**, 5 concurrent saves, private-network support. Includes everything in Basic. - **Master — 1 TB.** Adds **WebDAV** drive on top of FTP/SFTP, 25 concurrent saves, priority support. Includes everything in Pro. - **Gold — top tier.** Largest storage ceiling and all Master features. Exact prices are on the pricing page — they change with promotions, so we don't duplicate them here. ### 3. Click Select on your chosen plan The page scrolls down to the payment section, showing the billing amount and terms for that plan. ### 4. Pick a payment method Two options: - **PayPal** — a new tab opens to log in or create an account. Complete checkout there. - **Credit or debit card (FastSpring)** — a secure payment overlay opens on the page. The country/currency selector is in the top-right of the overlay if you need to adjust. Fill in the fields and submit. ![]() ### 5. Wait for confirmation You should see a success message on the page and receive a confirmation email. Most accounts upgrade instantly. A small percentage take up to half an hour — that's the edge of normal, not a problem. ### 6. Verify the upgrade applied Back in your Seedr dashboard, check: - **Account status** (top-left) — the plan name should now read the tier you bought. - **Storage quota** — the progress bar should reflect your new ceiling. - **Concurrent save slots** — try adding a second or third link at once if your plan supports it. If the dashboard still shows the old plan after 30 minutes, sign out and back in. If it's still wrong, contact support with the confirmation email attached. ### 7. Turn on the plan-specific features you paid for Some benefits need a quick setup step: - **FTP and SFTP (Basic, Pro, Master, Gold)** — open account settings to see your hostname, username, and port. Guide: mount Seedr over FTP, SFTP, or WebDAV. - **WebDAV (Master and Gold)** — same settings panel. Useful for mounting Seedr as a network drive. - **Priority support (Master and Gold)** — your tickets are flagged automatically; nothing to configure. ## Common mistakes - **Paid, but the dashboard still shows free.** Sign out, sign back in — the session sometimes caches the old plan. If it persists after 30 minutes, email support. - **Wrong billing currency.** The FastSpring overlay defaults to your detected country. Change it in the overlay's top-right dropdown before submitting — once charged, you can't flip currencies on the same invoice. - **Charged twice by mistake.** Usually a browser-back-button retry. Contact support with both receipts; refunds for accidental duplicates are straightforward. ## Related reading - How to use Seedr — beginner's tutorial if you're brand new. - Organize files in Seedr once you've got room for more files. - Mount Seedr over FTP, SFTP, or WebDAV to use your Basic/Pro/Master/Gold benefits. ## Wrap Pick plan, pay, verify.
